RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO FRANKLIN
BOULEVARD HOSPITAL
WHEREAS, the Cook County Zoning Board has conducted a Public
Hearing on September 14, 1979 and closed said meeting on October 24, 1979,
for the purpose of special use zoning for 20.09 acres owned by Franklin
Boulevard Community Hospital ; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove was represented at the Public
Hearing and has reviewed the testimony presented at the Public Hearing; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board of Trustees of Buffalo Grove passed
Resolution No. 75-41 opposing development of any kind in unincorporated areas
on the grounds that municipal controls and services would provide a more
orderly and desirable pattern for growth; and
WHEREAS, the Buffalo Grove Board of Health voted unanimously in
opposition to the Franklin Boulevard Hospital proposal on the grounds that
such a facility would unduly increase the cost of medical care in the area;
and
WHEREAS, the Buffalo Grove Board of Trustees passed Resolution No.
78-50 opposing the development of Franklin Boulevard Hospital intended to
serve the Buffalo Grove-Wheeling area, based on its adverse impact on health
care costs and a surplus of hospital beds; and
WHEREAS, the testimony presented at the Public Hearing did not show
cause for changing the Village's position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, that the Village of Buffalo Grove opposes the request for Special
Use Zoning for the Franklin Boulevard Hospital on the grounds that such a
facility would place an undue burden on the cost of health service, would
create an unneedea surplus of hospital beds, and that development of any type
should be within incorporated municipal boundaries.
