RESOLUTION NO. 76 - 4
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks in the State of Illinois, County of
Cook are Deputy Registrars for the County Clerk, and;
WHEREAS, the last day to register in the Offices of Cook County
City and Village Clerks and Township Clerks is 45 days preceeding any
national , state, county or municipal election , and;
WHEREAS, the last day to register in the Office of Cook County
Clerk is 35 days preceeding any national , state, county or municipal election,
and;
WHEREAS, the residents of our community phone the Village Clerk
for voter information and fail to understand the difference of ten days for
the acceptance of voters to register to vote in their municipality; and
WHEREAS, the Cook County Clerk's Office is located some distance
from most municipalities in the County of Cook.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Buffalo Grove, Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1 : That we do hereby petition the Illinois General Assembly
to pass the necessary Public Law to revise the Illinois Revised Statutes to
provide for simultaneous closing of municipal , township, and county clerks'
offices for registering to vote.
Section 2: That we do further hereby petition the Illinois General
Assembly to pass the necessary Public Law to revise the Illinois Revised
Statutes to provide, that offices of municipal , township, and county clerks '
offices be closed for a period of twenty-eight days preceding any election.
Section 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, and shall be transmitted to the Illinois General
Assembly for thir consideration.
