1973-11-12 - Resolution 1973-25 - Issues with the widening of Dundee Rd from 2 to 4 lanes: IDOT RESOLUTION NUMBER 73- 26
WHEREAS, William Rainey Harper College District 512 of the
State of Illinois services the Village of Buffalo
Grove, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, William Rainey Harper College has exceeded 5,000
students on its present campus and by law is now
looking for a site for a second campus; and
WHEREAS, it had been projected that William Rainey Harper
College is in the fastest growing area of the State
of Illinois and would soon have 12 ,000 students in
its system; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is also growing as
witnessed by its potential population growth by
1990 to 55,000 people; and
WHEREAS, the Village is included in the Chicago Area Trans-
portation System Study which provided for the con-
struction of a north south freeway system just west
of the Village limits ; the widening of Dundee Road
State Route 68 and for the extension of Lake Cook
Road (these four lane roads have already been con-
structed or will be finished by 1975) all which will
greatly provide improved means for quick access into
and out of the Village; and
WHEREAS, there is still vacant property in the Village of
Buffalo Grove on Dundee Road (State Route 68) just
east of the state freeway which had been proposed
to the William Rainey Harper College for its use
as a site for a second campus; and
WHEREAS, William Rainey Harper College officials have indicated that
these sites had been reviewed and were considered
for a second campus but that this decision must be
made by the Illinois Board of Higher Education and
the Illinois Community College Board; and
WHEREAS, Buffalo Grove is interested in securing this second
campus to the Village as it will greatly add to the
educational and cultural life of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board by this resolution will offer to
assist in the location of its campus by waiving
Village tap-on fees to the William Rainey Harper
College and to ensure that sufficient sanitary sewer
capacity will be retained to service their campus if
the decision is made to locate here; and
WHEREAS, the new modern Buffalo Grove High School of High
School District 214 is adjacent to this site which
would compliment this area of the Village for a
complete educational center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village
President and Board of Trustees of Buffalo Grove, Illinois ,
Counties of Cook and Lake, that:

SECTION 1. The Village of Buffalo Grove strongly urges the
State of Illinois Board of Higher Education, the
Illinois Community College Board and the William
Rainey Harper College Board to consider the Village
of Buffalo Grove for a site for its second campus;
expecially since vacant buildable land in prime
locations is rapidly disappearing in our area;
and
SECTION 2. The Village of Buffalo Grove will actively assist
William Rainey Harper College and the State of
Illinois in the selection of a second campus site
in Buffalo Grove, Illinois; and
SECTION 3. Copies of this resolution be mailed to Doctor
Donald Prince, Chairman of the Board, and Cameron
West, Executive Director of the Illinois Board of
Higher Education; Rey Brune, Chairman of the Board,
and Fred Wellman, Executive Secretary of the Illinois
Community College Board; and Ms. Jesslyn Nicklas ,
Chairman of the Board and Doctor R. E. Lahti of the
William Rainey Harper College Board.
