WHEREAS, certain areas of the Village of Buffalo Grove,
Illinois, Counties of Cook and Lake, are subject
to periodic flooding and/or mudslides from the
Buffalo Creek and its tributaries causing serious
damages to residential properties within these
areas ; and
WHEREAS, relief is available in the form of flood insurance
as authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act
of 1968 as amended; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of this BOARD to comply with land
use and management criteria regulations as required
in said act; and
WHEREAS, it is also the intent of this BOARD to recognize
and duly evaluate flood hazards in all official
actions relating to land use in the flood plain
having special flood hazards ; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 24 of the State Municipal Code of the State
of Illinois Statutes authorizes this VILLAGE to
adopt land use and control measures .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Village Board hereby
assures the Federal Insurance Administration that it will take
legislative action as follows :
1 Submit a copy of the land use and control measures
the community has adopted in order to meet the requirements of
Section 1910.3 and/or Section 1910.4 of the National Flood In-
surance Regulations .
2 Take such other official action as may be reasonably
necessary to carry out the objectives of the program. Such
actions will include but not be limited to :
(a) Delineating or assisting the Administrator, at
his request, in delineating the limits of the areas having
special flood and/or mudslide hazards on available local maps
of sufficient scale to identify the location of building sites.
(b) Providing such information as the Administrator
may request concerning present uses and occupancy of the flood
plain area.
(c) Maintaining the public inspection and furnishing
upon request, with respect to each area having special flood
hazards, information on elevations (in relation to mean sea
level) of the lowest floors of all new or substantially improved

structures and, where there is a basement, the distance be-
tween the first floor and the bottom of the lowest opening
where water flowing on the ground will enter; and
(d) Providing the name of the individual and the
office that will be responsible for furnishing the first floor
elevation information.
(e) Cooperating with Federal, State, and local
agencies and private firms which undertake to study, survey,
map, and identify flood plain or mudslide areas, and cooperate
with neighboring communities with respect to management of
adjoining flood plain areas in order to prevent aggravation
of existing hazards.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Board of Buffalo
Grove, Illinois, Counties of Cook and Lake, hereby appoints
the Village Manager with the responsibility, authority and
means to submit on the anniversary date of the community's
initial eligibility, an annual report to the Administrator on
the progress made during the past year within the community in
the development and implementation of flood plain area manage-
ment measures and to implement all other commitments made
herein.

resolution requesting participation in the National Flood
Insurance Program.

Plain Ordinance, copy of our Zoning Ordinance, a copy of
our storm retention ordinance, a copy of our Subdivision
Regulations, a copy of the map of the community which de-
