RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, pursuant to request and authorization by the
President and Board of Trustees, a special investigation into
the matter of clothing and equipment allowances was made by
joint meetings with the officers and members of the Police
Department and a report of same was submitted by Trustee
Bochniak, and
WHEREAS, there was a full review and discussion of said
report at the regular meeting of the President and Board held
March 15, 1962.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES THAT THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS
PERTAINING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BE AND THE SAME ARE HEREBY
ADOPTED 1?i'ECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
1. A clothing allowance is to be paid to all non-
ranking, regular reserve policemen. The officers
are specifically excluded from the payment of a
clothing allowance by the Village since it was
felt that the officers could acquire replacement
uniforms and to properly maintain their uniforms
from the salaries paid to them.
2. Complete uniforms and accessories, excluding
weapons and holsters, would be provided to regular
reserve policemen appointed after April 1, 1962. In
addition, surer uniforms and necessary accessories
would be provided to all regular reserve policemen,
including officers, who are on the force as of April
1, 1962.
3. a. All uniforms acquired by the Village and provided
to regular reserve policemen after April 1, 1962,
would remain the property of the Village for a
period of one (1) year after it was issued to the
recipient.
b. All accessory items acquired by the Village and
provided to regular reserve policemen after April
1, 1962, would always remain the property of the

Village and would be required to be returned
by the regular reserve policemen at the time
they tender their resignation or are terminated
from the Department. Accessory items are defined
as all leather items, such as, jacket belts,
cartridge and handcuff pouches; and, badges,
cap trim and shields; shoulder insignia and
patches; and, night sticks.
c. All regular reserve members of the Police Depart-
ment at April 1, 1962, would be required to return
to the Village all accessory items provided to them
by the Village at the time they resign or are
terminated from the Department. This includes both
officers and non-ranking policemen.
4. a. Effective April 1, 1962, a monthly clothing allowance
of $5.00 is to be paid to all non-ranking, regular
reserve policemen on the force at that date.
b. A $5.00 monthly clothing allowance is to be paid
to all regular reserve policemen (non-ranking) appointed
after April 1, 1962. Payment of the allowance to
begin six (6) months after the appointment to regular
reserve status.
5. The Ranking Regular Reserve Officer assumes the respon-
sibility for acting as official custodian of all Village
property issued to the regular reserve policemen. It
shall be his responsibility to request the Board to
authorize the acquisition of uniforms and accessories for
new_app0intees, to receive uniforms and accessories that
are Village property from those regular reserve policemen
who resign or are terminated from the Department, and to
inform the Village Clerk of the effective dates on which
payment of the monthly clothing allowance is to be made
to those non-ranking, regular reserve policemen appointed
after April 1, 1962.
