III . APPROVAL OF MINUTES

IV. BUSINESS
A. 46 Raupp Boulevard - Police Headquarters
Addition: Architecture and Materials
Mr. Ronald J. Chlebana, AIA, Interplan Practice,
One South 280 Summit Avenue, Oakbrook, Terrace,
Illinois 60181 (932-2336) made the presentation.
Police Commander Les Aradi was also present .
Mr. Chlebana presented a color rendering of the
proposed addition that will be constructed on the
north side of the existing police facility. The
addition will meet the required thirty-five foot (35 ' )
rear yard setback. The 2750 sq. ft . upper level will
be finished. The lower level will be smaller.

The parking spaces along the back were moved to the
east . Because of the parking lot layout, they would
only be able to add six (6) additional parking spaces,
four (4) in the center island area and two 2) on the
east side. Depending on the cost, these spaces may
not be installed.
All materials will match the existing materials .
They have checked with the manufacturers of the brick,
and it is still available, so the architecture of the
addition will match the existing building: same brick
coursing, brick insert, banding and colored mortar.
Mr. Chlebana presented a drawing indicating the visual
impact of roof top units from the property line . The
units will be setback far enough that they would not
be seen even if they were two (2) feet higher. The
addition will help screen the existing units because
they will be farther away. The height of the building
will not change .
The dark bronze window frames and the glass will also
match the original building.
The upper level of the addition will be office space
to be used for the detectives . The lower level will
be for future expansion. It will be used for bulk
storage and possibly some small offices.
There is a set of double doors on the east elevation
that will be used for the property room and the second
means of egress will be the triple window that is
closest to the north end of the building. The other
door to the south is the door from the lower level .
These are emergency exit doors only and will not be
used as a means of entering the building because of
the security issue. The access codes are at the front
doors .
