CALL TO ORDER
� President Smith called the meeting to order at 730 P.M. Those present stood and pledged allegiance to the
Flag.
ROLL CALL
Roll call indicated the following present: President Smith;Trustees Johnson,Cesario,Ottenheimer, Stein,
Bocek,and Weidenfeld.
Also present were: Chris Stilling,Acting Village Manager;Patrick Brankin,Village Attorney;Mike Skibbe,
Deputy Village Manager/Director of Public Works;Chris Black,Finance Director;Katie Golbach,Director of
Human Resources;Molly Gillespie,Communications Director;Timothy Kirsininkas,Communications
Coordinator;Nicole Woods,Director of Community Development;Brett Robinson,Administrative Services
Director;Geoff Tollefson,Director of Golf Operations;Police Chief Budds;Fire Chief Baker;Deputy Fire
Chief Kane;and Tyler Grace,Fire Department Analyst.
The Committee of the Whole Meeting consisted of staff reports and Board discussion on the listed topics,with
staff answering questions from the Board on each topic.
4C STEM CLUB
� President Smith recognized students who are with us from the 4C Stem Club and who had a tour of the Village
prior to the meeting. President Smith reviewed the mission of the Club and thanked them for being here
tonight.
Chief Budds also acknowledged the students and thanked them for their donation to the Village of Buffalo
Grove,which will be put toward the Junior Police Academy hosted by the Buffalo Grove Police Department
each year.
POLICE OFFICERS
Chief Budds introduced Buffalo Grove's two newest officers,Officer Drew Stephans and Officer Oliver
Sorisho. Chief Budds reviewed the credentials of each of the officers as they were welcomed by the audience
and the Board. Both officers noted that they are honored to be a part of the Buffalo Grove Police Department
and look forward to serving the residents of Buffalo Grove.
FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR
Chief Baker reviewed the process and criteria for choosing the Firefighter of the Year,after which he
/'� introduced Shawn Collins,President of the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club to present the award.
�J Mr.Collins summarized the mission of Rotary and the history of the Firefighter of the Year award,after which
he introduced this year's honoree,Lieutenant Dan Pasquarella and shared the highlights of Lieutenant
Pasquarella's career.
As he was congratulated by the audience and the Board,Lieutenant Pasquarella thanked the Rotary Club,the
Board,his family,and his fellow firefighters for this honor.

� PROCLAMATION—ORIGINAL BAGEL&BIALY
President Smith read a Proclamation honoring Lon Gitler,owner of Original Bagel&Bialy,expressing our
gratitude to Lon Gitler for his service and generosity to the Buffalo Grove community and beyond.
Debi Moritz,Chair of the Buffalo Grove Health Commission,commented on the Blood Drives that are held
quarterly by the Commission,noting the vital role that blood donations play in healthcare. Ms.Moritz thanked
the dedicated volunteers that staff the drives and urged residents to donate blood if they are able. Ms.Mortiz
� then presented a plaque to Mr.Gitler in appreciation for the contributions that Original Bagel&Bialy provides
for the drives.
PROCLAMATION—JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
President Smith read a Proclamation declaring the month of May 2024 as Jewish American Heritage Month in
the Village of Buffalo Grove and called upon our citizens to commemorate this occasion by appropriately
celebrating the contributions to our Country and Village of Buffalo Grove of the Jewish community's history,
heritage,and culture. President Smith then presented the Proclamation to Jane Charney,representing the Jewish
United Fund.
PROCLAMATION—NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
Trustee Ottenheimer read a Proclamation designating the week of May 12-18,2024,as Police Week in the
Village of Buffalo Grove,commemorating police officers,past and present who,by their faithful and loyal
devotion to their responsibilities,have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and in doing so,have
established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all
citizens.
� PROCLAMATION—MUNICIPAL CLERKS WEEK
President Smith read a Proclamation recognizing the week of May 5-11,2024,as Professional Municipal Clerks
Week and expressed appreciation to Clerk Janet Sirabian and Deputy Clerk Jessie Brown and all municipal
clerks for the vital services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent.
PROCLAMATION—PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
President Smith read a Proclamation designating the week of May 19-25,2024,as National Public Works Week
in the Village of Buffalo Grove,urging all citizens to recognize the substantial contributions they make to
protecting our national health,safety and advancing quality of life for all.
BG DAYS UPDATE
Ms.Gillespie reviewed a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the activities and the status of the planning for
the upcoming BG Days event to take place over Labor Day weekend.
QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
j'� President Smith reviewed the parameters to be followed by speakers and asked if there were any questions from
�_ J the audience on items not on tonight's agenda.
The students representing the 4C Stem Club spoke about the mission of their Club and how their Club is
beneficial to our community and our residents,as well as the students who are members,and thanked the Board
for allowing them to participate tonight.
A resident of Appletree Court shared an issue that she and others are having with a neighbor which makes her
(� feel vulnerable and unsafe. Mr.Brankin noted that this matter is pending in adjudication and that he has been in
�.� touch with the association manager and the association management company.
ADJOURNMENT
� Moved by Johnson,seconded by Stein,to adjourn the meeting. Upon roll call,Trustees voted as follows:
AYES: 6—Johnson,Cesario,Ottenheimer, Stein,Bocek,Weidenfeld
NAYS: 0—None
Motion declared carried.
