I . CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Eddie Larsen called the. Appearance commission meeting to
order at 7 : 32 P . M . on Thursday , March il . 193 at the Village hall .

III . APPROVAL OF MINUTES
February 25 , 1993 - Motion to approve as submitted was made by
Com . Weissman and seconded by Com . Lundine .

ABSTAIN - Viehman and Trilling
Motion Passed - 3 to 0 . 2 abstentions . Minutes of February 25 , 1993
were approved and will be placed on file .
L/ BUSINESS
A . Jewel /Osco , 79 Mc Henry Road - 24 HOUR PHARMACY
Additional wall sign on the front elevation
Recommendation for variance .
Mr . Terry Doyle . Doyle Signs , 232 Interstate Road , P . O. Box 1066 ,
Addison , IL 60101 (543-9490 ) presented a new drawing and
said they have changed the location of the sign from the north
end of the front elevation to the south end .
The Jewel Osco store has been remodeled and 62 lineal feet have
been added at the south end . The total frontage is 344 feet .
There is a 24 Hour Pharmacy in operation and Osco believes it
will be beneficial to the general public to identify this
service . The proposed sign will be composed of 21 inch indivi-
dual characters that will match the existing red letters on the
building . The sign will be centered over the new addition at
the south end of the store . It is attractive and appropriate
considering the size of the store . The letters will be
illuminated .
Mr . Schar explained that a variance is required because only one
wall sign is permitted per business . When the building was
remodeled , the plans were revised to meet Code requirements in
order for the demising wail to be removed .
The Commissioners had no questions or objections .
Com . Trilling made a motion to recommend to the Village Board
of Trustees and the Zoning Board of Appeals that a variance be
granted that would permit the addition of 24 HOUR PHARMACY . as
submitted ^ by the Jewel /Ooco store at 79 Mc Henry Road . It is
in the best interests of the residents of Buffalo Grove to be
informed that this service is available .

Computer Discount Warehouse were present .
Mr . Campiooe described the proposed 7 " 6^ x lS ' plywood
temporary construction sign . Colors will be red and *bite .
It will he setback ten feet ( 10 ' ) from the property iioo on
Lake Conk Road in front of the detention pond . Hamilton
Partners has approved the location.
Ch. Larsen recalled that there is a Hamilton Partners sign on
the corner and said the CDW sign should be 250 ft , east of it .
Mr . Campione said the purpose of the temporary sign is to
announce the coming facility and it will he removed after the
building is constructed . There will be channel letters on
the front elevation of the permanent structure .
Com . Trilling made a motion to recommend approval of the
temporary construction sign for Computer Discount Warehouse
as submitted with the stipulation that u 250 foot separation
be maintained from the existing Hamilton Partners sign at the
corner of Hastings Lane and Lake Cook Road .
