of the Buffalo Grove Store on Mc Henry Road , made the presenta-
tion. Seigle' s has proposed to add the services of a Drive-Thru
Lumber Yard. Additional signs are a pre-requisite to this

4 . GATEHOUSE: Materials will match the existing construction.
Seigle ' s has constructed an aesthetically pleasing building
with consideration of the Woodstone Development and the
Gatehouse will be compatible .
Mr . Seigle said the Drive-Thru Lumber Yard will enable customers
greater convenience in making purchases . Customers must park in
front , go through the store to the lumber yard , return through
the store to pay for purchases and drive their cars around to
the rear to have their order loaded . The Drive-Thru concept
will permit customers to enter the lumber yard directly , cutting
down on the time it takes to make a purchase. This will also
permit Seigle ' s to be more competitive with Handy-Andy and
Builders Square who merchandise their lumber and building
materials from their showrooms . Another aspect of the Drive-
Thru is better security for Seigle ' s providing better oversight
of materials that are exiting the store .
The Plan Commission had an objection to the traffic flow.
Seigle ' s will work with the Village to minimize this concern.
Com . Viehman made a motion to recommend approval of the
aesthetics of the elevations and materials of the Seigle ' s
Drive-Thru Gatehouse as submitted .

V. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Item A. Mobil Ground Sign - Addition of Diesel Price
Route 83 and Arlington Heights Road
Mr . Kelly said the representative called to say personal
business will prevent his attendance and asked to be placed
on the next Agenda.
APPEARANCE COMMISSION
March 26 , 1992 - Page Four
Ch. Larsen commented that if the additional panel will not
exceed the allowable square footage , the sign would be
permitted and could be recommended at this time . The station
has Diesel fuel pumps , so a new tank will not be necessary.
The existing bushes around the base of the sign can be trimmed .
Mr . Marienthal said the existing panel could be restructured and
the Diesel prices could be added .
Ch. Larsen said that if the sign is legal in size it would be
permitted by the Sign Code . Mobil Oil is one of the few
stations selling Diesel fuel and will increase their business .
The Commissioners had no objections .
Com. Viehman made a motion to recommend approval of the addition
of the Diesel fuel sign as submitted by Mobil Station at Rt . 83
and Arlington Heights Road , with the stipulation that the
Building Department review the size . The total sign, including
the addition, is not to exceed the allowable square footage for
a sign at that location.
Com. Ehrhardt seconded the motion.

Woodlands Commons Ground Signs - Ch. Larsen commented that
they do not meet the recommended specifications that were
approved by the Appearance Commission, September 26 , 1992 .
The lower portion was to be the same material . The outer
structure and the roof were to be the drivit material . The top
half of the sign has a stucco texture , to resemble drivit , for
Dominick ' s and the other tenant panels are painted dark bronze .
Ch. Larsen said if the whole sign is drivit , it would be better .
Mr . Kelly reported that he has informed Zale that a final
inspection is required . When it is requested and the inspection
is made , the Building Department will pursue the matter of
compliance with the Appearance Commission recommendation.
VI . ADJOURNMENT
Com. Gordon made a motion to adjourn.
Ch. Larsen adjourned the meeting at 8 : 20 P.M.
Respectfully submitted ,
