I . CALL TO ORDER
In the absence of Chairman Eddie Larsen, the meeting was called to
order at 7 : 37 P.M. and chaired by Com. Dennis Ehrhardt .
II . ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present : F. Weissman, R. Gordon, A. Viehman and
D. Ehrhardt . Quorum Established.
Commissioners Absent : E. Larsen and C. Bruno

III . APPROVAL OF MINUTES
March 14 , 1991 - Motion to approve as submitted made by Com. Viehman
and seconded by Com. Gordon.

IV. BUSINESS
A. Motorola , Inc. , 985-852 Hastings Drive
Ground Sign and Directional Signs
The presentation was made by Buz Williams , Poblocki & Sons -
Signs & Systems , 750 Spring Willow Bay, Palatine , IL 60067 .
The ground sign will be 4' 2" x 9 ' and the two directional
signs will be 5 ' 6"X 2 ' . All signs will be made of aluminum
with no exposed fittings and no illumination. The background ,
base and posts will be dark bronze with white vinyl copy.
There were no comments and no objections .
Com. Viehman made a motion to recommend approval of the ground
sign and two directional signs submitted by Motorola , Inc. as
presented.
Com. Gordon seconded the motion.

B. Furs by Michael - Wall Signage
150 West Dundee Road
The presentation was made by Joe Cheney , North Shore Sign,
1925 Industrial Drive , Libertyville , IL 60048 (816-7020)
The building is being renovated to be used as an office and
showroom for Furs by Michael . The building will be White
and the sign copy will be Green Plexiglas #2030 which will
transmit light . The letters will be mounted on a white
raceway.
The name will also be included on the ground sign.
Mr . Cheney presented a sample of the green color . It is light
and will be complimentary to the green roof .
Com. Gordon made a motion to recommend approval of the Furs by
Michael wall sign as presented.
Com. Viehman seconded the motion.

C. Dominick' s at Woodland Commons - Wall Signage
TABLED until April 25 , 1991 , by request of petitioner .
D. Woodland Commons - Ground Sign and Sign Package
The presentation was made by Christie Weigel , The Zale Group ,
100 Lexington Drive , Suite 100 , Buffalo Grove , IL 60089 and
Greg H. Jenkins , 135 S. La Salle St . Chicago , IL 60603 .
1 . Ground Signs - ZBA Variance recommendation necessary.
The diagram of the ground sign is shown with 4 tenant spaces ,
but Ms . Weigel requested a fifth space to accommodate an
additional anchor tenant .
Mr . Jenkins said the materials (brick , precast concrete and)
drivit) will match the materials , colors and design of the
shopping center . The parcel frontage would qualify for 120 sf .
of sign area, but the sign area of each ground sign will be
87 sf . The signs are double faced and the four locations are
shown on the site plan.

Dominick ' s will be the corporate colors orange and green.
Woodland Commons will be matt black , reverse channel backlit
letters and the tenant copy will be black routed aluminum
The four locations are shown on the site plan: 3 on Route 22
and 1 on Buffalo Grove Road. All are at least 250 feet apart .
All setbacks will be met .
Com. Viehman asked about the angle of the ground sign at the
corner of Buffalo Grove Road and Route 22 . As it is shown
it could be a single faced sign, with the rear toward the
Harris Bank. It was meant to be double sided and should be set
at a 45 degree angle so it will be seen from both directions .
Com. Gordon made a motion to recommend to the ZBA and the
Village Board approval of a variance that would permit 4
Woodland Commons ground signs per the site plan submitted ,
with the number of tenant spaces increased from 4 to 5 , per
diagram submitted.
Com. Weissman seconded the motion.

Motion Passed - 4 to 0.
2 . Woodland Commons Sign Criteria
After some preliminary discussion of the comments phoned in by
Chairman Ed Larsen, it was decided to Table the Sign Criteria
until the details can be worked out .
Com. Viehman made a motion to Table the Woodland Commons Sign
Criteria until Thursday, April 25 , 1991 .
Com. Gordon seconded the motion.
Voice Vote - AYE Unanimously.
E. Reservoir #7 , Temporary Construction Sign on Buffalo Grove Road
Jack Weyrauch, Special Project Representative , submitted the
request . Other similar signs have been approved.
Com. Weissman made a motion to approve the temporary
construction sign for Reservoir #7 as submitted.
Com. Gordon seconded the motion.

V. ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. 730 Hastings , Lot 27 - Revised Landscape Plan
Ray Rigsby, . Supt . of Public Works Operations submitted a
copy of a revised landscape plan for Lot 27 in the Buffalo
Grove Commerce Center . He advised the Appearance Commission
that he has approved some minor changes . There were no
objections .
Com. Weissman made a motion to approve the revisions of the
landscape plan for 730 Hastings , Lot 27 , as submitted.
Com. Gordon seconded the motion.
Roll Call Vote: AYE - Viehman, Weissman, Gordon and Ehrhardt
NAY - None
Motion Passed - 4 to 0.
B. Willow Stream Pool - Shelter Trellis
Mr . Mike Rylko , Director of the Park District , submitted plans
for a shelter on the West side of the swimming pool at Willow
Stream Park . It is similar to the screen over the children' s
pool area. It will provide shade during the afternoon hours .
There were no objections .
Com. Viehman made a motion to approve installation of the
Shelter Trellis at Willow Stream Pool as submitted by the
Park District Director .
Com. Weissman seconded the motion.
Roll Call Vote : AYE - Gordon, Weissman, Viehman and Ehrhardt
NAY - None
Motion Passed - 4 to 0 .
VI . ADJOURNMENT
Com. Weissman made a motion to adjourn.
