IV. BUSINESS
A. First American Bank of Lake County - New Signage
Mr . Robert Hill , Executive Vice-President , made the
presentation. He summarized the history of the First
American Bank Corporation. There are of 20 banks , from
Kankakee to Lake Villa , with many different signs .
A new corporate identity has been selected and they have
been changing their signage in compliance with the
various community ordinances . They have coordinated
their annual report covers , brochures , stationary, etc .
with the chosen colors , Blue and Gun Metal Grey . The
recently approved cash station reflects these colors .
The new primary sign symbolizes a flag . Ch. Larsen said
if the existing pole is going to be used , the leading
edge of the "flag" must be set back 20 feet from the
property line , in order to have the 20 foot height .
Mr . Hill was uncertain if the pole is structurally
strong enough to support the new sign. He was also
uncertain of the exact location of the property line ,
but he agreed to submit a site plan with the permit .
Ch. Larsen informed Mr . Hill that the size and number of
directional signs exceed the limitations of the sign
code . Directional signs are considered exempt if they
do not exceed four (4) square feet in size and four (4)
feet in height .
The five (5) proposed directional signs are 2 ' 6" x 4 ' 3"
constructed on a 9 inch base .
Mr . Hill said the drawing shows a typical sign and they
are only replacing existing signs .
After discussion , Mr . Hill agreed to reduce the size to
2 ' x 2 ' = 4 sq. ft . on a 2 foot pole to resemble a flag.
The signs will have white copy on a grey background with
the blue bar at the top.
Mr . Matt requested a complete site plan with the copy
and location of each sign designated , when the permit is
submitted . If the directional signs meet the required
size , they will be exempt , except for the electrical
connections .
