Bud Gibbs, Ill Com. Cynthia Zusel , Unexpected Problem After waiting 'til 8:15 P.M. the meeting was Cancelled. A Special Meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1982. To expedite the special meeting and to answer any questioners the petitioners had, an informal meeting was held: 1. NAPA - Strathmore Shopping Center The sign meeting the criteria for the sign package, except for the color. Red is not included. The petitioner agreed to change the color to Orange - #2119. Upon presentation of a letter from Mr. Conrardy, a permit will be issued by the Administrators. 2. JEWEL/OSCO - Wall Signs As per Sign Code, after a variation is granted, the Appearance Commission must approve signage. A letter from Ken Tucker & Associates has been written. It will be submitted at the Special Meeting 11/18/82. 3. Artists' Frame Service Mr. Jay Goltz, owner, was present and indicated that he has now registered his business as Artists' Frame Service, Factory Outlet - Picture Framing. The signs presented now meet the criteria of the Sign Code. Mr. Bob Pavetto owner of the Buffalo Court Shopping Center, was present and approved the sign presented for the brick fascia. He also requested signage for the State Farm Insurance Agency on the brick fascia to balance the appearance of the Artists ' sign. He was asked to develop a Sign Package for the Center. Mr. Goltz expressed concern about the having to wait to order his signs because he is planning an advertising campaign and has ordered a special mailing, as well radio announcements, using the new name. He was advised that ordering any signs to be fabricated before being given approval , would be risky; but if he did so - it would be his responsibility. 3. VILLAGE PLAZA - 400 W. Dundee Road Mr. James Beale was present. He explained that the reason the center is seeking additional signage was because tenants have requested a reader board. Customers have not been able to locate the stores. An alternate to a reader board, would be "400" or the address under the Plaza Verde sign in the space that was formerly "Rosen & Shane." Mr. Beale noted that people confuse Village Plaza with Plaza Verde. There is no longer a major tenant. There is space for 16 stores, but not that many would be on the reader board. Reader boards are not easily read, nor attractive. A suggestion was made to make a changeable copy type of reader board and allow each tenant an equal number of days per month on the board. Also, the trees in front of the Sign prevent people from seeing it. They could be moved and replaced with something lower. Landscaping to be approved. Another suggestion was to mark the entrances with lighted signs, with the address 400 W. Dundee Rd. Directional signs up to 12 square feet are allowed without AC approval . 4. Striker Lanes The owner was present but left as soon as the meeting was cancelled. The informal meeting ended at 8:45 P.M.
