The petition for pre-annexation zoning as a planned development,
multiple family, was again brought before the Board. The planned
development hereafter will be referred to as "The Grove. " The
premises affected comprise approximately 40 acres immediately south
of Dundee Rd. and immediately west of Arlington Heights Rd. Witnesses
for the petitioners were as follows: Mr. Goldman, developer ; Mr.
Braithwaite, attorney; and Mr. Schwartz, architecht.
Exhibit A was given to the Plan Commission, and it was noted that
this was to be classified as a new plan, the only difference being
the building locations. All other pertinent facts remain the same.
The following committee reports were made:
Finance Committee stated that if all figures given to the
Plan Commission on October 23 are correct, the building
project would be very advantageous to the school district.
Therefore, no complaints could be lodged.
The Utilities Committee had a question regarding the
drainage of the proposed ponds, which was answered to the
satisfaction of the Plan Commission. It was also brought
out that the utilities would all be underground.
Plat Committee: There was no meeting of the Plat Committee
due to the fact that the locations of buildings were to be
changed.
The question of the re-alignment of Arlington Heights Rd. was discussed.
After much discussion, a straw vote was taken of the Plan Commission
members to determine how many were in favor of a re-alignment of
Arlington Heights Rd. The results were 5 yes and 2 abstaining
(J. Guidotti and H. Cimaglio) .
Mr. Hooper pointed out that at present there are 3,886 single
family dwellings and 3,544 multiple units, excluding The Grove.
T. Finnegan moved to approve the pre-annexation zoning as an R-9
planned development with the provision that the Village Board study
the possible re-alignment of Arlington Heights Rd. R. Axen seconded.
There were 3 yes and 4 no votes (N. Kortus, R. Brown, H. Cimaglio,
C. Giebelhausen) .
H. Cimaglio asked J. Hooper to draw up alternative plans to the inter-
section. Mr. Hooper stated that he would be able to have various
drawings available to the Board in approximately one week.
