it
Chairman Genrich stated that the purpose of this meeting is to discuss some
long range plans of the Village and determine if the Plan Commission should
address itself to them.
Chairman Genrich asked if the Plan Commission should look into the water
supply problem or should the Staff and Board work it out. Mr. Whited
stated that the problem is one of increasing demand rather than decreasing
supply. Commissioner Goldspiel stated that beyond keeping advised of the
negotiations concerning obtaining Lake Michigan water, he does not think
it is something the Plan Commission can resolve themselves. Chairman Genrich
stated that he felt there are two alternatives: 1. Accept it as it is
and live with it, or 2. Try to keep abreast of it and become more knowledgeable
about what is going on.
Mr. Marienthal stated that he could talk to Mr. Larson and see if the Plan
Commission could receive the reports the Board receives regarding the water
supply. The Commission agreed that Chairman Genrich would contact Mr. Larson
on behalf of the Commission and ask him to inform the Plan Commission of
what is being considered and also to update the Commission in some convenient way.
Commissioners Harris and Goldspiel stated that the Plan Commission should
be advised on any changes regarding the highway system also.
A question was raised concerning the Village Center study. Chairman Genrich
stated that two important things came from this study:
1. The landowners have gotten together.
2. The economic study has made it evident that there cannot be
just a park setting with open area. There is a need for
commercial, also.

Commissioner Goldspiel stated that he has been assured by the RTA that
Buffalo Grove is on top of the list of priorities for the bus to the
Arlington Heights station but a hold has been put on these projects. They
will have a budget hearing again soon and if the Plan Commission would like
to send a letter with him he would like to attend that hearing. The
Plan Commission agreed to send a letter supporting a bus system for the
Village with Commissioner Goldspiel to that hearing.
Commissioner Goldspiel stated that several weeks ago a petition was presented
to the Park Board from some of the people in Mill Creek for more parks. They
will be voting on a referendum soon and have no long-range plan for parks.
Commissioner Goldspiel feels it would be appropriate to point out to the
people that there is no long-range plan. He made a motion that the Plan
Commission send a letter to the Park District stating that they oppose
holding a referendum before there has been an opportunity to plan and
discuss this and compare the long-range objectives of the Village. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Kandel and carried unanimously.
Commissioner Goldspiel stated that he was interested in knowing about the
housing study that the Village Staff has been working on. Commissioner Jacobs
stated that he is concerned about the amount of transiency in the Village.
The Village is losing a lot of residents to other suburbs because there is
no housing that people can move up to. It was the consensus of the Plan
Commission that they are interested in knowing about the housing study that
the Staff has undertaken and would like to have some input on it.
Poppin Fresh Pies
The Plat of Annexation for Poppin Fresh Pies was reviewed and signed.
Adjournment
