1965-06-17 - Village Board Regular Meeting - Minutes MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGEOF BUFFALO GROVE, COUNTIES OF COOS
AND LAKE, HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 17, 1965 AT THE MUNICIPAL SERVICE
CENTER, 150 N. RAUPP BLVD. , BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS.
The meeting was called to order at approximately 8 :15 P.M. The
Clerk called the rolland the following were found present :
President Farrington; Trustees Huxhold, Weiskopf, Marsh,
Racette, Wilhelm, Lewis
ABSENT: None
Trustee Weiskopf moved the Board dispense with formalities.
Trustee Marsh seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried.
Request for bids for the purchase of a police car having been
duly advertised for, the Clerk announced that two were received.
The Clerk opened and read the bids. George Poole Ford quoted
$2750.54 in accordance with the specifications submitted with the
exception of substitution of a 55 amp alternator for the 60 amp.
An additional $53.40 was quoted for a 60 amp alternator. The
second bid was from Alexander and Company and was in the amount
of $2990.00. Discussion followed regarding the need for the 60
amp alternator. Trustees Wilhelm and Racette felt additional bids
from dealers other than Ford should be secured. Trustee Marsh
stated it would mean an additional delay of three weeks or so.
President Farrington questioned why a Ford was advertised for.
Trustee Marsh stated he felt we had gotten good service from the
other police cars. Following further comment, Trustee Marsh moved
the' Board authorize the placing of the order with George Poole
Ford for the delivery of a 1965 Ford in accordance with the
specifications, pending final approval of the specifications,
finance arrangements to be made at a later board meeting. Trustee
Weiskopf seconded the motion. On roll call the vote was as
follows :
AYES: Trustees Huxhold, Weiskopf, Marsh, Lewis
NAYS : Trustees Racette, Wilhelm
President Farrington then read bids the Village Clerk had received
for typewriters for her office. Trustee Racette moved the Board
authorize an amount not to exceed $500.00 for the purchase of an
IBM Typewriter and a Service Contract for the Village Clerk's
Office. Trustee Huxhold seconded the motion and it was unanimously
carried.
President Farrington announced that the School Board of District
No. 21 is desirous of meeting with the Village Board on June 28th.
There bring no dissension from Board members, the Clerk was
instructed to send a letter to Mr. Tyler confirming June 28th at 8 :00
P.M. in the School Administration Building.

President Farrington then read a letter from the Governor's Office
regarding National Flag Week and Let Freedom Ring Day, President
Farrington then stated in accordance with the Governor's request
he would proclaim July 4th as "Let Freedom Ring Day" in the
Village of Buffalo Grove and if Father Ballweber consents, have
the bells at St. Mary's ring for 4 minutes starting at 1:00 P.M.
on July 4th.
Discussion then followed regarding the Zoning Ordinance as proposed.
Trustee Weiskopf felt it should be discussed and either approved
or disapproved since it has been some time since the Plan Commission
submitted it for the Board's final decision. Trustee Marsh stated
that he is not in complete agreement with the basic concept of
the new zoning ordinance. Trustees Racette and Huxhold felt the
same way. President Farrington stated that since Trustee Lewis had
not had an opportunity to peruse the ordinance and since neither the
Engineer nor the Attorney were present at the meeting that it be
held in abeyance until a later date. He stated a specific date
will be set up when everyone canbe present to discuss the ordinance.
Trustee Wilhelm then questioned when the Safety Bulletin will be
ready for distribution. Trustee Marsh stated there was not a
quorom at the last meeting therefore nothing could be voted on.
Trustee Wilhelm then stated that since the bulletin is not ready
it cannot serve the purpose of informing the people of the garbage
ordinance again but he felt the Police should strictly enforce
the ordinance governing "lids on garbage cans". He stated it is
a real health hazard and feels it is important that people be
ticketed since they do not seem to heed warnings. President
Farrington asked that trustee Marsh post signs in the Police Station
and Squad Cars regarding the strick enforcement of the ordinance
regarding garbage cans and lids requrired therefor.
There being no further business , Trustee Huxhold moved the meeting
be adjourned. Trustee Racette seconded the motion and it was
unanimously carried.
