1964-08-20 - Village Board Regular Meeting - Minutes
MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COUNTIES OF COOK AND LAKE, ILLINOIS, HELD THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 1964, AT THE LOUISA MAY ALCOTT PUBLIC SCHOOL. The meeting was called to order at approximately 8:20 P.M. Roll call found the following present: President Farrington; Trustees Rueckel, Marsh, Weiskopf, Huxhold, Frank ABSENT: Trustee Racette In the absence of the Village Clerk, Charles Wilhelm took the minutes of the meeting . The Liquor Control Ordinance amendment was discussed. Following correction of typo- graphical errors, Trustee Marsh moved Ordinance 0-64-14 amending Ordinance 0-60-12 be approved and passed. Trustee Weiskopf seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. President Farrington then expressed the sincere sympathy of the Board to the family of Paul Scharringhausen. Trustee Frank was requested to cut weeds in the area of Buffalo Grove Road and St. Mary's Parkway and the field behind Mohawk. A request for a street dance from a Mr. Cull was discussed. There are to be no alchololic beverages. Trustee Marsh objected to granting permission. The Tax Levy Ordinance was then discussed. Each board member received a copy. Trustee Weiskopf moved Ordinance 0-64-15, Tax Levy Ordinance, be passed. Trustee Rueckel seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. John Hooper's letter dated August 6, 1964 regarding the causes of basement flooding was then read. He stated flooding occurs in three areas of the Village 1. Arbor Court approximately 150' north of Cottonwood 2. On St. Marys from Raupp to Lincoln and extending up Lincoln and Rosewood approximately 300' 3. On Navajo approximately 300' south of Bernard Trustee Rueckel stated there is flooding on Lauren and Gregg and on Golfview and Buffalo Grove R oad. There is no storm sewer on Golfview. Discussion followed regarding illegal connections people have been making to the Sanitary Ll sewers from window wells, downspouts, and sump pumps. Mr. Hooper stated this points out the inadequacy of lack of occupancy permits. Mr. Raysa stated occupancy permits are touchy, difficult to enforce. President Farrington instructed Mr. Raysa to look into the feasibility and enforcement of occupancy permits. Trustee Rueckel is to draft a letter to Buffalo Utility regarding flooding and the sidewalk problem and ask for a meeting with the Utility Company to discuss cause and cure. . Questions were asked by members of the audience and Mr. Hooper stated overhead sewers would be the answer to flooding in the houses. Mr. Hooper requested the press pick up the notice for people to notify the board of flooding with an address. 7 2 President Farrington then stated one other item for discussion is the letter received from Glen Grove regarding the annexation agreement. The board .,members have copies. Trustee Marsh moved to reject the letter in its entirety. Trustee Huxhold seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. Derek Palmer asked whether a date had been set up for the discussion on Mosquito Abatement. Trustee Huxhold stated there had not been but he did not think Mr. Tom Edwards should be a member of the committee because he is not a resident of the Village. Trustee Huxhold moved the meeting be adjourned. Trustee Rueckel seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. Meeting adjourned approximately 9:44 P.M.
