President Th—son called the meeting to order at
approximately ; :00 P.M. All present stood and recited
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The Clerk
called the roll and the following were found present;
President Thompson; Trustees Felten, Gleeson, Thorud,
Armstrong, Fabish, Cimaglio
Also present were Mr. A. Sieberg of Hattie Associates
and Mr. Richard Rays*, Village Attorney.
1. Mutes of Acrik 19,1071
Trustee Cimaglio moved the minutes of the meeting of
April 19, 1971 be approved as submitted. Trustee Gleason
seconded the motion. Trustee Fabish stated the variation
reference the Brosio property should read percent rather
than foot. The motion and second were so amended to
include the correction. The Clerk called the roll, and
the motion carried unanimously.
2. ASILMWIWL-OLITJUMUMWm.
President Thompson then read a letter of resignation
from Nancy E. Lindhotm as Treasurer. He stated he wished
to take the opportunity to thank Mts. Lindholm for
accepting the appointment as interim treasurer and stated
he would accept the resignation. Trustee Fabish moved
the resignation be accepted. Trustee Cimaglio seconded
the motion and upon roll tall vote the motion carried
unanimously.
3. Canvass of Vow
The canvass of votes of the election held on April 20,
�t b 1971 then commenced with Trustee Glees on reading the
tally sheet and Trustees Felten and Fabish entering the
results in the canvass books. The following results
ware announced by the Canvass Board:
Donald J. Thompson received 536 votes for President
Gary Armstrong received 1060 votes for President
Kenneth J. Felten received 799 votes for President
Rosalie Kaszubowski received 997 votes for Clerk
Verna Clayton received 1184 votes for Clerk
Jack Naidsdi rOCOived 293 votes ,for Trustee
Donald J. Wilson received 487 votes for Trustee
Charles E. Moodhe received 564 votes for T *etee

M. Randall Rathjen received 982 votes for Trustee
Edward Osmon received 1050 votes for Trustee
Elmer James Shirley received 1502 votes for Trustee
Wallace E. Berth received 883 votes for Trustee
Gordon P. Tierney received 694 votes for Trustee
Allan Thorud received 605 votes for Trustee
Henry M. Cimaglio received 515 votes for Trustee
Charles Vogt received 1712 votes for Trustee
Norma Krolack received 1 vote for Clerk
Joe Pash received 1 vote for President
Jack Rech received 1 vote for President
Following the reading of the results, President Thompson
read a letter of resignation from Gary Armstrong as Trustee.
Trustee Cimaglio moved the resignation be accepted. Trustee
Gleeson seconded the motion and upon roll call vote the
motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Gary Armstrong was then sworn into office as Village
President by Mrs. Rosalie Kaszubowski and given the gavel
by Mr. Donald Thompson. Mr. Armstrong then administered
the oath of office to Verna Clayton as Village Clerk and
Mrs. Kaszubowski stepped down from the council table.

President Armstrong then administered the oath of office to
E . James Shirley and Edward Osmon as Village Trustees, and
they took their places on the Board. President Armstrong re-
quested Village Clerk, Verna L. Clayton, to administer the re-
maining oaths . Mrs . Clayton then administered the oath of
office to M. Randall Rathjen and Charles Vogt as Village Trustees
and they took their places on the Board.
The meeting of the newly elected officials proceeded. Presi-
dent Armstrong made an acceptance speech thanking the citizens
for their support during the campaign, and asking for their
continued support during the next four (4) years .
President Armstrong presented plaques to past President
Thompson, past Trustees Felten, Gleeson, Thorud, and Cimaglio;
past Village Clerk Rosalie L. Kaszubowski and thanked them for
their years of service to the Village of Buffalo Grove .
President Armstrong named a five member citizens committee
to select candidates to fill the trustee post from which he
resigned. Members of the committee are Rex Lewis as Chairman,
along with Jean Smith, David Melroy, John Kennedy, David
Reirden and David Epstein. The committee will interview any
citizen in the community who has a desire to serve on the
Village Board for the next two years . Interested persons may
call Mr . Lewis at 537-5386 . The Committee will submit not
less than three and no more than five names for consideration .
Trustee Fabish asked the Village Engineer, Mr. Arnold Seaberg,
if the engineering was complete on Checker Road. Mr. Seaberg
said that the engineering was complete but that there are
other matters to be completed.
Trustee Fabish moved that the Board instruct the Clerk to ad-
vertise for a Village Manager in the Municipal Review. Trustee
Shirley seconded the motion . President Armstrong stated that
he had been having conversations concerning the hiring of a
Village Manager with the Village Manager of Wheaton, Mr .
Robert Eppley, who is the President of the Village Manager ' s
Association, but that this would be an additional way to re-
cruit. The Board approved the motion unanimously.

Mr. Raysa told the Board that he did not want them to feel
obligated in any way to retain him as Village Attorney, but
there are several cases pending, and he would continue if the
Board so desired. President Armstrong asked Mr . Raysa to re-
main and continue serving the community.
President Armstrong asked for questions from the audience and
there being none, Trustee Fabish moved the meeting be adjourned.
Trustee Osmon seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
