Meeting called to order 7.05pm.
Since our last meeting, Penny has resigned. Lea has accepted the Secretary position but
she is currently on vacation.
The Plexiglass Heart of Buffalo Grove Award was shown. The Farmers Market
Committee won this award in November from the Chamber of Commerce. Ed made a
wooden stand for displaying the award.
Purpose of meeting was to discuss the bylaws of the Farmers' Market. To make
adjustments &updates then the final copy will be reviewed by the Village Board and
attorney for implemenation.
Paulette secured bylaws of other markets for review and their ideas possibly
incorporated into our bylaws.
Chuck had pre viewed the old bylaws and made suggested upgrades. We discussed some
of them. It was then agreed for all of us to take the material home for review and meet in
2 weeks to fine tune the verbage.
Some general suggestions: stall prices. Suggested we charge $225 for all 17 weeks. If a
vendor chooses once a month or just alternate weeks they will be charged $17 a week.
Sponsor of the week ( SOW) will be charged $125 for the space fee.
Suggestions included adding political/religious groups having booths in the by laws
Politicians are allowed by law to walk around and pass out literature
Market dates will be June 14- Oct 11,2015. No market Sept 6th during Buffalo Grove
Days
Discussed: Pesto Presto vendor- he should have 2 booths :one for cooking and one for
sales of product.
Swirl Cafe- move the food truck to the south end of the market due to their exhaust . then
we have to move Tom of Coffee Roasters and Jimmy's Donuts?? A few spaces north..
Suggested not inviting back- Mitch (candied bacon) and Candy Bouquet-complaints last
year on the vendors personal habits..
We need to find out if the park district plans to have the Green Fair/date
We all agreed no magazine coupon advertising this year. We will buy ads in the Daily
Herald as in the past.
Facebook advertising was very efficient. This year Ed proposed a budget of$250 for the
extra Facebook advertising. All agreed- will clear this w/the Village
Car show- Mickey is still interested in producing this ,perhaps mid summer. Paulette has
a volunteer(Cody Barnett) on the BG Days Committee who is interested in helping and
has contacts. Will put the 2 men together to see if this can happen. Will need to verify the
Park District will give permission etc
Fern announced our Farmer's Market is listed as one of the best on Illinois and a
certificate that we are the TOP Market in the state for 2014. She also has stickers and
magnets to decorate the storage trailer.
Fern also read the thank you from the Vernon Township Food Pantry for the monetary
donations and food donations that we gave to them last summer.
Ed would like us to consider purchasing 3-4 tall tables to be used for patrons eating.
These tables fold down and weigh 17 lbs. Cost is approx $100 each,he found these on
line. They would fit into the storage trailer for weekly storage.
Next meeting- Tuesday 1/27/15
Meeting adjourned 7.55pm
