Welcome & Call to Order at 7:04pm II. Roll Call a. The acoustics in council chambers are not great, so it'll be important to not maintain side conversations and to speak up and listen carefully during next month's meeting d. Mariano Crosswalk Sign Missing - Update i. Police Department went out there to check-in, the signs are back up! b. NCH Handicapped parking — update i. NCH Memo was shared from the development team and engineering team with the Commission RICK KAHEN COMMISSION FOR RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES October 12, 2022 ii. The memo addresses the process for determining ADA parking compliance and the analysis of the NCH parking lot determination iii. If there are particular questions, please email them to Staff Liaison Michel so he can forward them onto the appropriate party if additional answers or information is needed iv. Vice Chair Sussman has requested a copy of a formal memo from the Village Lawyer that he has seen the memo and signed off on it VII. Sub-Committee report a. Buddy Bowling (October 20) (Commissioners: Weiner, Garfield, J. Shapiro) i. 89 registered Bowlers, 30 lanes, 33 buddies ii. 2 lanes kept separate for any overflow iii. This weekend, Commissioner Weiner will email registrants to remind them of the event and with information about the construction iv. Staff Liaison Michel has 90 trophies in his backyard v. Staff Liaison Michel will bring 200 wristbands to the event vi. Volunteers should arrive by 4:45-5pm at Bowlero vii. Jobs • Registration = Commissioners Sussman, Magati, Klassman, Samuels, Zalay, Dragon • Shoes = Commissioner Verson • Food Service = Commissioners B. Shapiro, J. Shapiro, Garfield • Safety Coordinators = Commissioner Njongmeta viii. Community Engagement Director Mollie Gillespie sent out some nice press releases to publicize the event ix. Banners have been made x. Guest fee for food is $10 xi. We will hold an additional donation box at each of the 3 tables • Staff Liaison Michel will investigate how to get the RK-CRD a Venmo account for donations in the future Ai. If cash is collected, make sure it goes to someone from the Village xiii. Vice Chair Sussman reached out to the Police Department to request the presence of an officer at the event or in the parking lot Vill. Unfinished Business On Hold a. Revisit Mission, Vision and Goals (Commissioner Garfield) • November 16, 2022 meeting will be primarily focused on this effort. b. Business Decal (Window Cling-Ons) - Marty Sussman /Allie Zalay/Avi Samuels c. Commission website update— Commissioner Zalay • Marketing person hired d. Continue discussion related to how our Commission can work with Planning and Zoning to be able to review and provide some input related to handicapped parking spots, etc (Vice Chair Marty Sussman) 2 RICK KAHEN COMMISSION FOR RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES October 12, 2022 • From the June 2022 meeting: Prior to this - we need to revise and review our Commission's mission, vision, and goals and determine if this is something we want to include as our goals. If so, a procedure and liaison for this role would need to be included. e. Posters / Fliers to share information about our events (Marty Sussman / Lexi Robinson)— On hold pending meeting w/ Director of Communications and Engagement. IX. New Business a. None X. Good and Welfare a. Chair Samuels wishes a Happy Holidays to those who celebrate the various holidays this month i. Chair Samuel's mother is coming home from a rehab facility b. Commissioner Magati hosted an event that 2,000 individuals attended for a holiday festival c. Trustee Wiedenfeld's grandson is adorably large and off the growth charts d. Commissioner Robinson is going on a work trip next week to Tempe,Arizona i. Happy Birthday to Commissioner Robinson on October 25th! e. Commissioner Zalay went on a trip to Arizona and it was great f. Commissioner J. Shaprio and his children are excited for Halloween themed bowling next week g. Commissioner Klassman's children and grandchild might move by the end of next year! h. Commissioner Weiner is happy with happy children at home i. Happy Birthday to Commissioner Weiner on October 26th! i. Commissioner Garfield got a new car j. Vice Chair Sussman says to look out for the 708 Board Referendum on the ballot i. Happy Birthday to Vice Chair Sussman on October 29th! k. Commissioner Njongmeta's sons are doing well and his nieces are doing well, the youngest is applying to colleges, it's great to be part of this team and living in this community I. Trustee Stein and his wife spent last weekend with his son in Iowa and next weekend with his daughter in Indiana m. Trustee Stein saw a story about Commissioner Njongmeta's son and his incredible record as a football player for Wisconsin n.
