IV. Chair Report
• Attendance requirement reminder— 75% minimum
o This is a requirement from the Village President and Board of Trustees
• Commission regular meeting dates going forward (4t" Wed. of the month)
o April 27, May 25, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28, October
26, November 23, December 21
o Meeting dates are always listed in yellow at the bottom of the month's
agenda
o Motion to move the following meeting dates
■ Move from August 24 to August 17 as to not have the rush with
last minute details for Buddy Baseball and Fun & Food
■ Move November 23 to November 16
■ Move December 28 to December 28

o Focus on initiatives that work with people with disabilities (updating
website to provide resources, business window decals, expectations/roles
for new commissioners and how to get involved right away, disability
awareness)

• Senior Expo (Marty Sussman /Judy Samuels)
• Friday, April 22nd at the Community Arts Center from 10am-1 pm
• We currently have 2 volunteers — Marty and Judy
■ Volunteers to arrive at 9:30am
• Avi can come as a backup volunteer, if needed
• We need to get candy for the expo— large bags of chocolate candy
• Evan will print the brochures to be handed out at the expo
• Evan will also get a tablecloth with our logo
• Tables and chairs will be provided by the Park District
• We have 4 brochures that we will hand out

■ Bowling with Buddies
■ Fun & Food
■ Commission information
• Emailed to the commission on 1/27/2022
• Fire Department Open House
o Occurs in September and usually on a Saturday
o We will need volunteers to have a booth sharing our mission and
resources for the community
• Initiatives moving forward
• Create a list of events we put on and expectations for support at the
events to share with commissioners on a yearly basis
• Share updated contact information with new members
• Business Decal (Window Cling-Ons) Marty Sussman /Allie Zalay/Avi Samuels
• Call out local businesses for supporting the community of individuals with
disabilities with a decal that can be displayed in their place of business
■ Goal: recognize businesses for going the extra mile for individuals
with disabilities
• Ok to move forward as a subcommittee?
• What is the criteria for earning a cling-on to display?
■ Employ individuals with disabilities?
■ Accessible for individuals with disabilities?
• Who determines which businesses?
• Who finds the businesses?
■ Can have community members nominate
■ Can we partner with the Chamber?
• Do we want to rather use these to bring awareness of the Commission
rather than recognition of businesses?
• IN SUMMARY— move in the direction of awarding the Cling-On to a
business that encourages businesses to embrace the disabled
community— honor at a Village Board Meeting

• NEXT STEPS— subcommittee with meet, begin to craft criteria
• Commission website update—Allie Zalay
o Nothing to do until the Village hires a marketing individual
• Identification card update— Marty Susman
• A rep from downstate has put up a bill that state troopers will have ability
to card individuals with disabilities over the age of 18 who have difficulty
communicating
• Deerfield has now put in place the ID card, Wheeling has it in place
• Turned over to the Trustees to determine what we need to do to be part
of this
• Continued discussion related to how our Commission can work with Planning
and Zoning to be able to review and provide some input related to handicapped
parking spots, etc. (Marty Sussman)
• Do we need to support the Planning and Zoning Commission with
understanding ADA requirements?
• Evan will work to determine more information about the NCH Medical
Facility on Lake Cook Road in regards to placement and % of handicap
parking spots
• Invite someone from Planning and Zoning to hear their process in terms
of ADA with new buildings and parking spaces
• Avi is open to being a liaison if we determine it necessary
Vill. New Business
• Wheeling Township 708 Board"— RKCRD involvement? (Avi Samuels)
o Representatives from Wheeling Township gave a report regarding a
community mental health (January 18t" meeting)
o 708 Board" provides funding for local non-profits regarding mental health
o Evan can reach out to have the presentation given to our commission to
determine a possible partnership between the 708 Board" and RKCRD
• Possible new subcommittees /tasks for the Commission New Commission
Member information packet
• Expectations of a Commission Member
• List of subcommittees, descriptions, opportunities within including
lead/co-lead
• Other TBD
• Lexi to draft a 1-pager to review at the next meeting
• "In Our Backyard" (Name TBD)
• Information and/or concerns about disability related initiatives going on
within our community and neighboring communities
• Show our support for other things that are going on in our community
• Include on our resource page with the updated website
• Have a point person who can "collect' this information to share out with
the full commission during monthly meetings
• Are there two individuals who want to volunteer for this?
