Chair Report • Welcome back to the Commission Andy and Les! • Feel free to reach out to Judy with anything we may need, please refrain from calling late at night, Judy also checks email regularly (but not hourly, please be patient when waiting for a reply) • First official meeting as the newly renamed Rick Kahen Commission for Residents with Disabilities! VI. Trustee(s) report • Andy- back and excited to be a part of the Commission! • Les - excited to be back, thank you to Judy for stepping up to be our Chair! VII. Staff Liaison report Vill. Sub-Committee report • Buffalo Grove Days - Debbie Verson • Details are changing rapidly • 3 main components = carnival, entertainment, and fireworks • Only event at the current venue is the carnival ■ Spreadout, taking over the area where the food tents are ■ No tables, no chairs, no where to eat ■ Carnival is 5 days (Thursday-Monday)- it is in the contract that we have 1.5 hours donated by the carnival for Fun & Food event ■ There will be no tent ■ There will be bathrooms (including accessible bathrooms) - there is talk of potentially adding additional cleaning people • Food trucks are questionable • Entertainment may be at Willow Stream Park, but it may not be - this is still up in the air, could possibly be at Mike Rylko park • No golf carts have currently been ordered • For Fun & Food - we are responsible for set up and take down, $0 budget ■ Recommended no DJ for the event as no other entertainment will be available at that venue ■ Any food we get will need to be donated, there won't be a set up for us to utilize ■ Could we do a snack bag at check-in rather than a meal? • Is the carnival taking extra precautions for COVID? ■ Evan is reaching out to check • Do we still want to host the Fun & Food event? ■ Motion for a vote on having only the carnival with no food and no Buddy Baseball: • Motion: Lexi Robinson • Second: Marty Sussman • In Favor: Mark, Debbie (with waiver), Lexi, Jack, Dean, Beth, Judy Opposed: Marty Abstain: None Motion approved; we will have 1.5 hour of Fun (no food, no additional entertainment) and no Buddy Baseball • Will we need to do registration and do a waiver regarding COVID? ■ We can keep people in their cars and do registration from cars ■ Les will follow up with Dane regarding this and Evan will follow up with legal counsel • Courtesy Shuttles (there will be no buses this year) ■ Should we have courtesy shuttles this year? - currently none have been ordered ■ Motion to table Courtesy Shuttle discussion until June meeting • Motion: Debbie Verson • Second: Dean Klassman • In Favor: All • Opposed: None • Motion approved • Fitness Center will have a mix of handicap parking and general parking • Buddy Baseball - Dean Klassman • Park District Event to dedicate the park to Rick Drazner • Dean wants to also dedicate the game to Rick Drazner, Rick Kahen, and Jacob Grossman on Sunday, July 10, 2021 @ 11:30am is the dedication, game to begin 12pm - Dean has already reached out to Lou Malnati's about donating pizza ■ We can serve pizza to participants while they are socially distanced ■ Debbie will reach out to Culver's about donating individual ice creams for the game ■ Mark will work with Walgreens to get donations of bottled water for the baseball game and for the Fun carnival event (500 water bottles for both events) ■ Motion to have the game co-sponsoring by the CRD Motion: Jack Shapiro • Second: Lexi Robinson • In Favor: Judy, Marty, Mark, Lexi, Jack, Beth, Dean • Opposed: None Abstain: Debbie • Motion approved o Could we also get shirts? ■ CRD has $300 budgeted this year from the Village, we also have $2700 in the 501 C3 ■ Motion to spend up to $300 on shirts for the event • Motion: Mark Weiner • Second: Marty Sussman In Favor: All • Opposed: None Abstain: None Motion approved ■ 75 shirts, roughly $3 a shirt ■ Evan will look into if we have a relationship with a shirt vendor to get bids ■ Lexi will ask her husband about being the DJ at the game o No buddy baseball game the Thursday of BG Days this year • Bowling with Buddies - Mark Weiner • 6-8pm on October 21, 2021 • Partner with Rotary again • Halloween theme, come in costumes for bowling • Email to previous bowling participants and schools/organizations sooner rather than later with a Save the Date • August 21, 2021 set it up online and email invitations to everyone ■ Include waiver for participating and for photos • Wristbands for players to get shoes and balls • $5 fee for other individuals wanted to buy food • Bowlero will give us all 32 lanes • In the past we have had chicken fingers, pizza, soda (do we want to do this?) • In the past each Rotary and CRD each donated $500 to host the event • Do we want sponsors for the event?
