MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE FOR RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 50 RAUPP
BOULEVARD, BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2015
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by Board Member Richard Kahen
Approval of Minutes
Hold until next meeting.
Chair Report
Fire Department has open house September 19 from 10am to 2pm and we are going to have a table
there.
Commissioner Kahen will man booth from 10am to noon and Commissioner Samuels from 12pm to 2pm.
Trustee Report
Trustee Stein had inquiry from BG Days Committee regarding moving the date of Fun and Food to Friday,
however, President Sussman ensured that it would stay on Monday.
On September 21, President Sussman will be reading a resolution on the 25th anniversary of the ADA.
Committee Report
Buddy Baseball
Players
Commissioner Klassman has 25 to 40 players but none of the Village employees has
RSVP'd to Klassman as buddies. Volunteers and Buddies should get there by 3:45pm.

Pizza confirmed. Will be there at 5:30pm. We need extra coolers for water.

Assignment of Tasks
There should be signs for parking and Commissioner Verson will direct traffic.
Fun and Food

Review Mo's list of assignments and duties
Commissioner Sabath spoke with Mo and we now have spaces for people to work in the
tent as well as the carnival.
Volunteers need to be there at 9:30am
BG Days committee will be picking everything up (food, etc.)and Mo will be in charge
under the tent.
We will print up a sheet to disseminate at sign in for the carnival for the Resource Fair.
Commissioner Klopfer will prepare a write up of the names and description of the
organizaion for the handout.
Needs for registration table
Disability Resource Fair, number and needs
Have eight people organizations and eight organizations which are tentative.
Hours for the resource fair: should be ready to go at 11 am and get there around 10:15 or
so. It will go until 1 pm.
We will waive fee for Representative Carol Sente.
Tables will be numbered so they will know which one they will be at.
Nobody should sell anything at the fair. They can take orders, etc.
B/C Durkin will take the checks to Scott Anderson.

Update from Disabilities Awareness subcommittee
They will set up a meeting for next month.
Commissioner Reports
Staff Reports
Commissioner Klopfer witnessed a car versus motorcycle accident by Stevenson High School and he is
now seeking training on what to do in that type of situation. Commissioner Morton indicated that the
Village has a program call CERT which handles CPR and other similar things. Fire Department does
CPR and First Aid classes.
Commissioner Sussman went to an event for disabled children (Variety Club)at the Arboretum Club. It
was a nice event and they will continue to host it in BG. He suggested we get involved with them and
have them speak at our meeting.
Commissioner Kahen had an inquiry about things to do in the area for a person with bipolar disorder.
