2022-05-18 - Buffalo Grove Days Committee - Minutes BG Days Agenda May 18,2022 In Attendance: Paulette Greenberg Jackie Beegun Shari Ginsberg Howard Hoffman Ken Lazar Beth Nudelman Rodney Odelson Ryan Risinger Jim Warnstedt Tom Wisniewski Tara Anderson Robert Broussand Frank Horbus Chris Krase Les Ottenheimer Brett Robinson Judy Samuels Andy Stein Debbie Verson Josh Wallace Chairman's Report Paulette Greenberg meeting called to order at 7.05pm Tom introduced Jim Warnstedt the new assistant public works director Approval of last meeting minutes Howard & Rodney made motions to approve Sub Committee reports Police: Robert Broussard& Tara Anderson Bobby advised they have met w/Rodney to discuss various parade routes. The option that is most feasible is to move the parade this year to Checker road and follow the Pride Parade route=that one is already mapped out with staging areas. The parade would then end at the festival site and bring in people to participate in activities... Big concern is the scheduled road repair of Bernard-most likely will not be completed and possible hazards by curbs. Supposed to be a 1-2 year project. Then bring the parade back to Bernard after construction is completed.. Parade: Rodney Odelson A long/lengthy discussion about parade route.. Rodney concerned if we move parade to Checker , the parade will not return to Bernard after construction is done. There are no high school bands signed up and school ends in a week or so.. He has left messages with the band directors at BG High School and Stevenson High School... He contacted St Mary and found out Mr. Case the band director passed away last year. Rodney left a message for the new lady-but no return call to date He has 9 shriners signed up for the parade. $1900 has been committed of his budget. He needs to get the invite letters out ASAP . He has computer problems... Paulette offered to type the letters.. Village hall has a machine that can print and fold the letters for mailing.. Rodney concerned about passing out info letters to residents on checker parade route. Police dept can assist, per Bobby.. Paulette has also contacted Carolyn Pinta- she has offered to assist Rodney with staging etc of parade Tara said they have school officers that can contact the school bands... No politicians have signed up yet. Mobile Com no report Fun & Food: Judy and Debbie discussed their concern for wheelchair & walker participants to walk on the grass to get to the 'table tent' for the lunch. Public Works can lay down plywood from parking lot to the tent if needed.. Paulette acknowledged there is no entertainment planned for this activity. Kona Ice has confirmed they will be at this event to pass out free ice cones to the F&F participants then will sell to the public. Culvers ice cream but without use of a freezer, Debbie may ask for coupons instead to be passed out.. Debbie advised the commission is still in discussion of actually lunches or just treat bags for participants this year. Carnival will be available as in prior years. Buddy baseball is still happening Fire Dept: no report Sponsorship: Ryan reports 9 sponsors (About $8,000) has been committed to date Public Works: ' Everything is OK" Food Trucks; no report from Don Geno Ryan advised 17 food trucks have been lined up for the weekend. They want to have a kids hour Saturday& Sunday 1.30-3pm(but no description of what this entails) Jane Primack Jane sent in a report- she is currently away on vacation to paraphrase her lengthy report:Jane has made numerous calls/left messages for Lindsay Grandt to set up an appointment-Nearly 3 weeks went by before Lindsay contacted Jane. Lindsay admitted her team had already met to discuss kids activities ( Jane was not invited to attend) a meeting was eventually set for May 12th. But canceled that day due to a flood in Lindsay's home. On May 13th Jimmy Mix emailed Jane to do a phone or zoom meeting that day,but Jane was not available. Appears park district has little urgency to include Jane in discussions on unknown kids activities. Lindsay did admit in our one conversation that she had never seen what the Kids Craft tent was all about in past years. I (Jane) question their want or need for a liaison to the BG Days committee. BBQ Challenge Jackie Beegun & Don Geno Don not here- no report Jackie advised the trophies at Crown Trophy have been checked out but she doesn't have Don's opinion (he was supposed to go there too ) Paulette has asked them what kind of giveaway for the participants- suggested aprons or grill mitts.
