The meeting was called to order at 7:10.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
Paulette and Eric introduced the new members of the committee.
Paulette stated that she has the disclosure forms that need to be completed by chairs and
sub chairs annually. New members need to do it when they j oin.
Eric stated that new members get to choose what they would like to do or what
subcommittee they would like to work on.
Alan Nudelman talked about the need for advanced planning for possible rain during the
festival. He stated that every sub chair needs to figure out how they can withstand rain and
talk about alternatives if it does rain with lightening.
Paulette stated that Fire and Police make the decision to close the festival. Patrons cannot
be around the metal in the tents. Paulette stated that the carnival goes on if there is a misty
rain. The Entertainment is all outside. Alan N suggested that we give away free ponchos in
the case of rain and people can still attend. Mike stated that will not likely succeed.
People may not want to stick around in the rain. Alan N urged the committee chairs to
come up with ideas in case of rain and in case of storms with lightening.
Alan N stated that between now and our meeting next month, he would be happy to sit
down with sub chairs and run through ideas. He suggested that if you have ideas for
another sub-committee; send it to the subcommittee chair. Eric suggested that each sub
chair come up with ideas for their event in case of rain and come to the next meeting ready
to discuss.
Police: Michelle Kondrat/Robert Broussard
No one from the Police was present. Paulette stated that we have a new Police Liaison,
Bobby Broussard.
Parade: Rodney Odelson/Lee Orlov
Rodney was not present but emailed his report to Paulette.
Rodney stated that he will need extra help this year as he one co-chair, Lee Orlov, will
continue helping but he may be limited due to health issues. Murry and Arla have resigned
from the committee and were a BIG help on Friday night, Sunday morning and during the
parade. Depending on the election, he may need a new announcer for the parade. With
Eric now co-chair of the committee, Rodney is unsure if Eric and his wife will continue to
be judges. If not,he will need 2 new judges.
Rodney has some ideas for the Grand Marshal but will wait until next month to discuss
them.
Mobile Com: Paul Zucher
Paul was not present.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen
Rick could not be present but emailed to Jane that CRD will have their regular events at the
festival.
Fire Department: Joe Welter
Joe was not present.
Park District/Sponsorship: Ryan Risinger
Ryan was not present but emailed his "no report"to Jane.
After the discussion at the end of the meeting, the Part District will be handling the
Sponsorship for the committee.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds
Mike had no report.
Food Tent: Sarah Lee/Marc Sprunt
After discussion that occurred at the end of the meeting, Sarah and Marc volunteered to
approach and get area restaurants to participate in the Food Tent.
Beer Tent: Chamber
There was no report.
Business Fair: Roger Sosa
Roger could not be present but emailed Jane that he has 2 businesses signed up for the
Business Fair.
Set Up/Take Down: Eric Gordon
Eric had no report.
Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee
Sarah stated that she needs to get together with Roger to determine what a craft is and what
a business is.
Kid's Craft Tent: Jane Primacl{Xarol Irvin
Jane stated that she already has her sponsor again for this year, Lucas Orthodontics.
Jane stated that she is in need of 14 to 20 ounce cans. She asked that committee members
save them and bring them to meetings,hopefully clean, without labels.
Grilling Challenge: Ed Bjes
Ed had no report.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen stated that she is rolling along, but has nothing booked. She has talked to some
agents about acts.
Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
Doug asked if we put any more tables in the food tent, we need to put more chairs. We
were low on chairs last year. Paulette stated to bring it up in August when they order the
tables and chairs.
Doug asked if the sound contract had been sign. Mike stated that we are still on the three
year contract signed last year.
Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg/Stan Zoller
Alan stated that the Village will continue helping with the brochure with their outside
communications consultant.
Stan agreed to be second to Alan for Marketing.
Clicks and Shutters: Marian Rodriguez/Randy Kittell
Marian had no report.
Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett
Diane had no report.
Jane has gotten a new volunteer for the Car Show.
Beth asked about using the Fitness Center's empty parking lot for the show. Mike said
that the Park District will not allow that as long as the center is open_
Information Booth/Ice Man: Marc Spunt
Marc had no report.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg
Paulette stated that they are raising the ticket rates for the first time in 10 years.
One coupon will cost $1.50, 20 coupons will cost $25 and 50 coupons will cost $60.
There is something else they tried it at other festival and it worked well. They will be
implementing it at BG Days this year. People attending can buy an "Express Access"Pass
with their tickets or wristband for the day, at any point during the day. The purchase price
will be an additional $10-$15. For this they will receive an added special wrist band and
an Express Access badge. There will be special Express Access lines to avoid waiting in
the regular long lines. This will bring in additional revenue.
Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds
Mike stated that Jenny, Joanne, Palette and Eric met last week. The Village will not be
bringing back Matt. Mike stated that the Park District will partner with the committee for
sponsorship. They have people already in place seeking out sponsorship for the Park
District. They do a lot of that kind of work.
Mike stated that the BG Days committee is taking over the Food Tent as its own.
Mike stated that the budget is pretty much status quo.
The Not-for-Profits will be the same as last year with some tweaking.
Alan and Beth volunteered to set up and run the Not-for-Profits
Sarah and Marc will work at procuring the Food Tent vendors.
We will still need people to run the Food Tent during the festival.
Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson
Joanne reminded everyone that the election is 3 weeks from tonight.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Eric told the new members of the committee that if they have any ideas, speak up. If you
have an idea for an event, come to the meeting with suggestions. That is how the BBQ
Challenge and the Car show got started.
Jackie made a motion to adjourn. Alan seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:56.
