Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg JV asked if there were any corrections or discussion regarding the minutes from the last meeting. Jane reviewed minor changes in the minutes. There was no discussion. Stan made a motion to approve the minutes. Rhonda seconded the motion. The motion was carried. JV stated that there no more meetings for the BG Days committee. . JV thanked Jane for all the work she does with the minutes and keeping people informed. Paulette has the parking passes. Leave them in the windshield of your car. Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrat Vince stated that it was time for his security talk. He said that we, as a committee, are an extra set of eyes. If we see anything suspicious, radio mobile com or grab an officer. If something doesn't look right, trust your gut and find a police officer. They have had no real problems to speak of in the past. There will be extra police officers at traffic and parking. Michelle said that if anyone wants to help, let her know. They can always use extra help. Parade: Rodney Odelson/Murray Sprung/Lee Orlov Rodney stated that there are 87 entries in the parade. He said he definitely needs parade marshals Sunday morning at Regent and Bernard around 9:l 5. If you can help, see him today. Ken is in the hospital and hoping to get out Friday. He needs help Friday night at 5 for passing out flyers at Regent and Bernard for people in the staging areas. He also needs help Sunday at 7:30 at Bernard and Regent to put the plates out on the parade route. Parade marshals should meet him at 9:15. Rodney stated that he want to thank, in advance, all those that help them out with the parade on Sunday and those that help with Friday afternoon passing out flyers to the residents along Regent, Bernard and Indian Hill. Dr. Next year he will speak about things that need to be corrected for 2019 parade. He doesn't think DeAnn will be there but a special advance thank you to her grandson, Michael. Rodney also extended a special thank to the Police Department and Public Works for all they do. Mobile Com: Paul Zucher Paul stated it is time for his annual tips for talking on radios. Everything is the same as last year. There will be 2 channels.. Paul reminded everyone that the primary use for the radios is for emergencies. If not an emergency, Paul asks that you keep conversations short. The radios come with headsets, a microphone and ear piece. Paul askes that if you are going to be at the campus at night, pick up a blue glow stick with the radio. If you have the radio all day, think about getting a battery change. Come to Mobile Com to swap out a battery. In using the radios, say who you are calling first. Wait for a response. Mention an emergency right away if that is why you are calling. When reporting, keep it simple. If you find a missing parent, escort them to Mobile Com. If you find a lost child, Mobile Com will send an officer to you. Don't release a lost child until an officer arrives. If you have a medical emergency, state what the medical problem is Fun and Food: Rick Kahen Rick stated that a couple of people have stepped up and filled.in the 2-4 slots and one 4-7 slot. He also needs help Sunday 12-2. Rick stated that the shuttles are on a separate radio channel that goes through Mobile com. Fire Department: Joe Welter Joe was not present. Park District: Ryan Risinger Ryan had no report. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds Dave stated that everything is going well. He said that they have a lot of different events going on and he has made a lot of signs. Signage will be laid out on the curb line along Route 83. Come to the info booth and they will direct you to the signs. JV thanked Public Works for all they do to get things up and running. Dave stated that they are ready for Wednesday's softball game at Emmerich. Sponsorship: Matt Settler Matt was not present but emailed his report to Jane. For sponsorship there are no additions or changes from last week's report. Paulette stated that Matt has brought in between $17,000 and$19,000, which is pretty much what Chamber brought in last year. This total does not include Woodman's donations that the Village procured. Food Tent: Matt Settler Matt was not present but emailed his report to Jane. Matt emailed that if Rokbonki gets their contract and payment in by Wednesday night, they will be added to the Food Tent. Matt got an email that Melting Co. will not be able to participate due to owner and chef has an injury. Paulette reported that they never paid and, yet, is in the brochure. Beer Tent: Chamber Roger stated that they will have beer. He said that the Beer Tent is some else's department. Roger said that Baggo has been taken care of. Roger stated that he understands that there are no committee shirts in the beer tent. You need to drink in own shirts. Roger stated that they will take care of the volunteers but keep it close. You are not to use a family line. Set Up/Take Down: Eric Gordon Eric asked that everyone come earlier on Thursday night around 9:00. Eric stated that they will be running 2-3 less Bingo games this year. . Eric stated that we will begin tearing done the festival at 4:00 on Monday. Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee Sarah and Jackie were not present. They were having their own Arts and Crafts meeting with the vendeors. Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin Jane said that they are good to go. They may need volunteers. The kids who have said they might come are a bit fluid. She said she has Murray, Arla and Lori so far as volunteers from the committee. Grilling Challenge: Eric Gordon/Ed Bjes Ed stated that he had 19 teams signed up. 77 total entries, 9 Brisket, 13 Burgers, 21 Poultry, 12 Pulled Pork and 22 Ribs Ed stated that he needs judges for poultry. Ed said that charcoal garbage cans are out there already for the coals. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen thanked Dave and his crew for all the work they did in setting up all the entertainment venues.. Karen stated that if they build it they will come. She also thanked Vince and Michelle for all their help the will provide for the weekend. . She thanked Adam who has talked to a lot of the bands about their load in She also thanked Doug and Bob, in advance for all their work during the weekend. Karen stated that one of the stilt walkers cannot be on stilts. He will walk on his own feet. Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Adam stated that everything is coordinated and they are good. Doug said they will have sound. They are set up for the parade and the Buddy Baseball game. Bob does the parade. Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg Alan stated that he has been posting the last few additions on the website. Journal Topics produced a special section for Buffalo Grove Days. IF you want anything else posted on the website, talk to Alan. Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak- Hal and Jim were not present but Rhonda said they will be there Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett Diane stated that they are all good. She has had a glitch with the trophies. She will talk to Paulette later about it. Other than that, she thinks they are ready. When asked, Diane stated that the cars start to come in around 9:30. The show starts at 11:00 Matt stated that a coffee van will come in at 8. Cars from 1988 and older are allowed. Diane got Garbaldi's gift cards as prizes and thanked them for their donation. Information Booth/Ice Man: Marc Spunt Marc stated that if you need some volunteers, call the info booth. Marc has food tickets for Saturday and Sunday Paulette stated that the first thing when you come on campus is come over and let info know you are there. Carnival Paulette stated that they have started to set up. The Ferris wheel, 5 kid's rides and some games have moved into the lot closer to the Food Tent. Paulette stated that there will be more puke rides this year. Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds Mike was not present. Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson Andy wanted to thank all the volunteers for the work they will do this weekend. Andy stated that he will help the not for profits run smoothly during the festival. Some of the less busy spots are not yet filled but these are spots when they don't' need as many people .Andy said that the will need a golf cart to move the ice and beverages, when needed. Andy thanked for everything for all we have done. We will work hard during the weekend. Joanne stated that she can't wait for it to start. She thanked everyone for volunteering. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members Paulette stated that we will have 2 freezers. One will be for the Chamber one for the committee. Vendors will come to the committee for ice. We will keep a running tally in the sales to vendors. We have ordered 160 bags all together. Monday night, after the cleanup, we will have our party at the Continental. Karen is collecting the $10 per person. Everyone is invited. Andy stated that he will be in the dunk tank. Police run it and the money will go to their charity, Special Olympic. Brad stated that the Chamber Beer Tent will be selling duck tickets for the Rotary duck race. They will be offering the Quack pack of 6 beers and 2 tickets for$40. With the flock of ducks,you get lots of ducks. JV stated that Paulette does 95% of the work of the co-chairs. . JV's stated that this is his last year. He has been on the committee for 22 years. He has been co-chair 15 years. He stated that Paulette has been his summer wife. He said that what we do for the village is phenomenal. He said we have been allowed to volunteer. He will miss the committee and most of all, will miss the committee members. He has a relationship with all of us. We have been through, marriages, births, and burials. He thanked everyone for all we do. JV said that on Monday, when we are all tired, we will see the special needs kids and we won't feel as bad Lastly, JV stated that if he yells at your during the festival, you deserve it.
