2018-03-13 - Buffalo Grove Days Committee - Minutes BG Days Committee Meeting March 13, 2018 Mari Antman, Steve Antman, Cody Bartlett, Dianne Bartlett, Jackie Beegun, Ed Bjes, Bob Boxer, Alan Danenberg Karen Danenberg, Shari Ginsberg, Eric Gordon, Paulette Greenberg, Howard Hoffman, Debra Jess, Joanne Johnson, Debi Moritz, Hal Norman, Rhonda Norman, Alan Nudelman, Beth Nudelman, Jim Pawlak, Vince Positano, Jane Primack, Penni Raphaelson, Mike Reynolds, Matt Settler, Brad Schencker, Roger Sosa, Carly Springman, JV Springman, Marc Spunt, Andy Stein, Nancy Winter, Stan Zoller, Paul Zucker Guest speakers: Art Malinowski, Brett Robinson The meeting was called to order at 7:05 Art Malinowski from the Village covered the Open Meeting Act rules and regulations, the Freedom of Information Act rules and regulations,professional conduct, the role of the Trustee Liaisons, the role of Village Liaison, the role of the chair persons of the committee, the role of the committee members, and the procurement process. All major contacts are signed including the stage, the tents, the porta potties, the sound company and the cleaning crew. Committee members can no longer buy needed supplies and ask for reimbursement. Contact Paulette to make any purchases for your event. Before you send any information out to the public, it needs to be cleared with the communication liaison at the Village. Alan stated that he has an understanding with the communications department of the Village in regards to publicity. Art stated that there is a no harassment policy of the Village. Harassment is not allowed by anyone associated with the Village for any reason to any individual or group. Matt Settler was introduced by Mike Reynolds. He will be in charge of food organization/food tent and sponsorship. The Chamber will still run the Beer Tent and the Business Fair. Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg Paulette introduce the newest committee member, Ed Bjes, who will be helping Eric with the BBQ Challenge, Paulette also stated that she has the gifts form volunteer the reception. Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrat Michelle was not present. Vince had no report. Michelle will continue as his co liaison. Parade: Rodney Odelson/Murray Sprung Rodney was not present. Mobile Com: Paul Zucher Paul had no report. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen Rick was not present and emailed his no report to Jane. Fire Department: Joe Welter Joe was not present Park District: Allison Christopoulos/Ryan Risinger Allison was not present_ Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds Mike had no report. Sponsorship: Matt Settler Matt stated he has already begun contacting people regarding sponsorship. Food Tent: Matt Settler/(Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson) Matt stated that the only change he will be making is in the cost for a booth in the Food Tent. It will be changed to $750 for 5 days of participation and $600 for 4 days of participation. Matt has already contacted 5 restaurants and they have all agreed to the price increase Beer Tent: Chamber Roger had no report. Set Up/Take Down: Eric Gordon Eric had no report. Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee Jacked stated that she has already contacted a number of crafters. Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin Jane stated that Carol,her co-chair is back with her again. They will be bringing in some new crafts, undetermined at this time. She does have her sponsor, again this year, Lucus Orthodontics. Grilling Challenge: Eric Gordon/Ed Bjes Chuck stated that this is his last report. He has resigned from the committee. He introduced Ed Bjes, who runs a BBQ challenge in Roselle at their festival. He will be co- chair with Eric. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen stated that she has already started Friday night she has booked Suburban Cowboy. Saturday night will be a 90's boy band night. She has yet to book the main act. Sunday night, she has booked 7ch heaven. Karen asked Diane if they want a band on Monday for the car show. She has booked a 50's band. Karen stated that she is rethinking the ethnic dance groups. She does not have a good spot for them to perform at the new location. Karen stated that there will be no Spiderman this year. She is working to book the Black Panther. Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Doug and Adam were not present. Bob had no report. Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg Alan stated that they do not have to redo the website this year. All they have to do is update it as they go along Paulette asked if they were going to do the Facebook boosts again this year. Alan confirmed they were. Paulette stated that she needs to know how much they will cost. Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak- Hal and Jim had no report. Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett Diane stated that she just found out they will have a band this year. Other than that, she has no report. Information Booth/Ice Man: Marc Spunt Marc had no report. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson Debra stated that she has already been talking Tom Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman Alan stated that there is no need for this subcommittee. The Police are now running the parking. Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds Mike had no report. Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson Andy stated that the sound for the parade last year was fantastic. You could hear the commentators talking and the sound levels were great. Joann had no report. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members JV read his letter of resignation from the committee that he had sent to Bev last fall. Paulette announced Eric Gordon will be new co-chair and will be shadowing JV and her this year to learn the ropes. Alan made a motion to adjourn. Steve seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05.
