2017-08-01 - Buffalo Grove Days Committee - Minutes BG Days Committee Meeting August 1, 2017 Cody Bartlett, Dianne Bartlett, Jackie Beegun, Bob Boxer, Alan Danenberg Karen Danenberg, Eric Gordon, Rick Kahen, Michelle Kondrat, Marlene Kozak, Ken Lazar, Sara Lee, Adam Moodhe, Jim Pawlak, Vince Positano, Doug Primack, Jane Primack, Mike Reynolds, Roger Sosa, JV Springman, Arla Sprung, Murray Sprung, Janee Stempel, Andy Stein, The meeting was called to order at 7:06. Chairman's Report: JV Springinan/Paulette Greenberg Paulette was not present. JV had no report. Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrat Vince stated that he had no real report. He said that some people got parking permits. He asked that when committee members give them to the vendors, make sure they are placed in the lower left side of the wind shields. It makes it easier for the police. Karen stated that she puts the name of the entertainer in left hand spot of the permit. Jackie stated she will do the same for the Arts and Crafts permits.. Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung Rodney stated that as of tonight,he had 71 participants in the parade. When asked, he said that he has 7 politicians and 7 commercial entrants. He stated he is way under budget but that will change as he gets closer to the festival. Rodney stated that he is in need of 2 parade judges. He said that it is an easy job. You will drive around in a golf cart and judge the entrants, giving prizes to the best marching band and best float. You will be done before the parade even starts. Judges need to get there at 9:30 or so. Rodney stated that he will need parade marshals for the day of the parade. When asked, Rodney said that he has 2 more Shriner groups to come in and the Stevenson high school band has not responded yet. Murray stated he needs people to distribute fliers on Friday starting at 5 PM. Eric offered to be a judge. Mobile Com: Paul Zueher Paul was not present and emailed his "no report"to Jane. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Debra Jess Rick stated that all the food is covered. Sandwiches will be provided by Dorfler's,but not skirt steaks. Pasta will come from Wild Buffalo, salad from TGI Fridays, ice cream from Culvers, cookies from McDonald's, and snow cones from Troop 140. Rick stated that next week he will have the sign up for volunteers for the shuttle carts. When asked, Rick said that the Buddy Baseball game will be on Thursday at 5:30, same place as last year. Fire Department: Joe Welter Joe was not present. Park District: Allison Christopoulos/Bill Heider Allison and Bill could not be present. They are at National Night Out. If anyone has any questions, please forward them to Allison via email. JV asked that he and Paulette be copied to any questions. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds Mike stated that he picked up the new feather flags for the BBQ Challenge and the Car Show. They have done the curb cut for the carts. They have used wood chips to complete it. JV asked that next week after the Farmer's Market, could Mike put all the feather flags up for BG Days along Route 83. Mike reminded everyone that requests for signs need to go to Paulette. Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Roger Sosa Roger stated that there is nothing new. Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson Debra stated that last week, they worked on a layout for the tent and it is done. Debra said that the set up for the Food Tent on Thursday will require less movement around of tables and chairs. It will be easier on everyone. Eric said that he will need 2 blowers and one vacuum. Eric and JV will bring leaf blowers. Mike said that Public Works has a blower and the vacuum. Set Up Man: Eric Gordon Eric said that he had no report. He will do the layout in a couple weeks. Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee Jackie stated that they had 40 crafters and are maxed out. When asked, Jackie said that there will be 2 crafters there Thursday night.. Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin Jane stated that things are moving along well. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posmak/Eric Gordon Chuck was not present. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen stated that everything is good. Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Doug stated that they are in good shape. They still need to get a sound system for Monday. They need to talk to Karen about that. They are still waiting for some riders. Mike confirmed that the Beer Tent will be 40x80 feet this year. Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg Alan stated that he had no report. Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak- Hal was not present and emailed his "no report"to Jane Jim asked about when the group picture will be. He has to work evenings the week of the last meeting. The group picture will be on August 22 at Village Hall. Roger was not sure if the new shirts would be in by that date. Committee members should wear their tie dyed shirts for the picture. Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett Diane stated that there was nothing new from last week. She is still looking for door prizes and raffle prizes. They are still passing out fliers at car shows. They need 5 to 6 prizes, something a little nicer. For the check in tent, they will use the Kids Craft Tent. Information Booth/Ice Man: Marc Spunt Marc was not present. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson Debra stated that the presale sheets will arrive tomorrow at Village Hall. The sheets will be 30 tickets for $30. Scott knows they are coming. Debra stated that the ride that had the accident in Ohio was similar to the Freakout ride we were supposed to get. On the carnival website, the ride has been pulled. Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman Alan could not be present but emailed his report to Jane. The Police and the BG Park District are working on a location for motorcycle parking. He will be asking for volunteers in the next few weeks - no time for sign-up,just that you're available. He will have at least two and maybe three locations that will need coverage at various times during the weekend. Permits will be issued sometime in the next few weeks. JV stated that if Alan and Beth need people and you're not doing anything, he expects you to go out and help. Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds Mike stated that he had no report. Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson Andy had no report. Joanne was not present. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members JV stated that Eric will need help Thursday night after bingo. Eric said that it should take only 1 '/2 hours. The stage will be set up in the Beer Tent. There should not be much work there. JV stated that the tents go up on Wednesday. Roger stated that he was not sure when the shirts for the volunteers would come in. No color had been decided on. JV stated again, that if Alan needs help, go out there and help him. Eric asked about festival posters was told to see Debra. JV thanked everyone for volunteering. Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Jackie seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:24.
