The meeting was called to order at 7:10.
Chairman's Report: JV Sprinman/Paulette Greenberg
Paulette stated that we are one month away from festival time.
Next month, we will reduce our meetings by one for the vendor meeting.
JV is at the Cubs game.
Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrat
Vince stated they are starting to get closer to the time for needed parking permit info.
This includes entertainment, crafters, beer tent people and anyone else that will need
permits. They will need to know how many permits are needed for each group.
Paulette asked for permits for the crafters next week. Jackie will be completing the mailing
to crafters and wants to send them out with that mailing. Vince said he can do so but needs
to know how many are needed.
Debra asked if they got the layout for the carnival. She asked if they are giving their
approval of the plan. Vince said the plan is good.
Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung
Rodney was not present. He emailed his report to Paulette.
There are currently 59 entries in the parade.
Rodney has lost his 2 previous parade judges due to health issues. He needs 2 people who
would be willing to volunteer,prior to the start of the parade, which is at 11 AM now.
Anyone interested,please contact him. It is a very easy job to drive around in a golf cart
prior to the start and chose a winner in 4 different categories. Their job would be over by
the start of the parade.
Mobile Com: Paul Zueher
Paul was not present and emailed his "no report"to Jane.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Debra Jess
Rick had no report. He stated that he will have a lot to report next week, but nothing today.
Fire Department: Joe Welter
Joe was not present.
Park District: Allison Christopoulos/Bill Heider
Allison and Bill were not present but emailed their"no report"to Jane.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds
Mike stated that he ordered 2 additional feather flags.
Everything is up to speed at this time.
Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Roger Sosa
Brad stated that they have found sponsors for the t-shirts. There will be 3 shirts per
volunteer for all the days of the festival. Alan suggested tht they get a sample of each size
for committee members to view before ordering the size they want. /Brad agreed.
Money they raised will also offset the after party cost. Paulette stated that the location of
the party had not yet determined. When asked, Paulette stated that the committee will
continue to wear our tie dye shirts on Monday for the Fun and Food program.
Brad stated the vendor meeting will be August 15tn.
Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson
Debra had no report.
Set Up Man: Eric Gordon
Eric was out of the country at a nude beach sun tanning specific body parts. He emailed
his "no report" to Jane.
Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee
Jackie stated that they are up to 38 crafters. .
She stated that she has one woman, who makes handmade pot scrubbers in different colors.
She also wants to sell bowls, kitchen items, mops,brooms and carpet sweepers. She is
asking Jackie how she is different from the Tupperware vendor. Jackie said that she is an
elderly person, on a fixed income and can't afford a business fair booth as suggested
previously. It was decided that she is not a good fit for our Arts and Craft Fair.
When asked, Jackie stated that she wants 40 to 50 booths total.
Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin
Jane stated that she has a sponsor, Lucus Orthodontics. She was able to get their check in
time that their name will be listed in the brochure as the sponsor for the Kid's Craft Tent.
Jane stated that the shopping mostly done and things are progressing well.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Eric Gordon
Chuck stated that he has one application in.
The aprons are at the printer.
Other than that he has no report.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen stated that entertainment is totally booked. This year, she has a lovely children
entertainment program, the Not Quite Fairy Tales.
She will have lots of jumpy things and obstacle courses. They will not be in the way of the
BBQ Challenge.
All the contracts are in.
Friday night High Infidelity will perform.
Saturday Arra will perform.
Sunday night American English will perform.
Jasmine, Wonder Woman and Spiderman will be present as walk arounds.
Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
Doug stated that Adam talked to new sound company. They have made changes in the
Beer Tent. They will have fewer monitors,but they did not have lighting in the tent so they
swapped it out. There will be no change in cost.
There will be 6 moving lights for the Main Stage. Karen is happy.
They are also getting us the fog machines. Karen is happy again. She stated that the fog
machines will be used for all 3 concerts.
Doug asked Mike about getting a ramp to get over the high curb from the green lot to avoid
having to go all the way around. Mike is working on it.
Andy asked about improving the sound quality for the parade. They will look into it.
Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg
The brochure has been turned into the Village Manager.
The website is running well.
The ads are in the Daily Herald.
Alan stated that he was contacted by Journal and Topics. They will have a table in the
business fair to pass out papers. They are doing a whole segment on Buffalo Grove.
Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak-
Hal had no report. He stated that they will be there.
Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett
Diane stated that the trophies are in the works.
They are passing out fliers at car shows in the area with more coming up.
Diane asked if it was possible to get a banner to put in front of Village Hall since this is a
new event. Paulette stated that a feather banner has been ordered for the event. She will
also look into a banner in front of Village Hall.
Information Booth/Ice Man: Marc Spunt
Marc had no report.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Debra stated that the posters are here. She stated that they are not cardboard as in previous
years. They are printed on glossy paper. The posters do have the wrist band info along
with the Car Show.
Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman
Alan was not present and emailed his "no report" to Jane.
Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds
Mike had no report.
Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson
Joanne was out of town and emailed her"no report" to Jane.
Andy had no report.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Paulette stated that they have looked at the tents size and locations. The Safety Tent,
which will include the Fire and Police, will be next to the Info Booth.
Marc asked about the issue with the curb and safety to prevent falls. Mike will get fencing
to block off unsafe the curb area.
Paulette stated that they will not be enlarging the food tent. They will be enlarging the
Beer tent,making it more square.. Adam stated they will need the specs for the change of
size. .
Paulette stated that the other tents will be the same size.
Paulette stated that the Carnival ticket booth will be moved due to 2 extra rides coming.
The trailer porta potties will be at the southwest corner
The cleaning company will be responsible for the upkeep of the trailer porta potties. Public
Works will be present all weekend and can step in, if needed. They have installed piping
under the asphalt for the trailer porta potties.
When asked, Debra stated that Freakout is coming back. The Rotary will be closer to the
new porta potties.
Rick asked if the Chamber has gotten specific donors for the shuttle carts. Roger stated he
has none at this time.
When asked, Paulette stated that there will be no rental car or van. The crafters can park on
campus. There is no longer a need for the van.
Paulette stated that there will be 6 to 7 golf carts. They are not needed as much at the new
location. Adam asked about the gators. Paulette stated that we will have 3 gators, 2 for
entertainment and 1 for Public Works.
Paulette stated that after the committee meeting there will be a side meeting for the Food
Tent.
Alan made a motion to adjourn. Rhonda seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:37.
