2017-06-13 - Buffalo Grove Days Committee - Minutes BG Days Committee Meeting June 13, 2016 Steve Antman, Jackie Beegun, Bob Boxer, Alan Danenberg Karen Danenberg, Eric Gordon, Paulette Greenberg, Bill Heider, Debra Jess, Rick Kahen, Hal Norman, Rhonda Norman, Alan Nudelman, Beth Nudelman, Rodney Odelson, Randi Orlov, Jim Pawlak, Charles Posniak, Vince Positano, Doug Primack, Jane Primack, Mike Reynolds, Brad Schencker, Roger Sosa, JV Springman, Arla Sprung, Marc Spunt, Janee Stempel, Nancy Winter, The meeting was called to order at 7:06. Chairman's Report: JV Sprinman/Paulette Greenberg There was no chairman's report. Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrat Vince said that everything is good. Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung Rodney stated that he has 31 entries in the parade as of right now. Only 2 are politicians. Rodney also stated that the previous owner of the Buffalo Restaurant, who has returned to running it, will be the sponsor for the parade. Mobile Com: Paul Zucker Paul was not present but emailed his "no report"to Jane. Fun and Food: Mara Sabath/Debra Jess Rick had no report. Fire Department: Joe Welter Joe was not present. Park District: Allison Christopoulos Bill Heider was present for Allison and had no report. Bill noted that the committee needs to include the non-smoking policy on Park District property in the brochures and information handed out to the residents. When asked, Bill stated that the health club will be open shorter hours on Monday. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds Mike stated that he has no report. Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Roger Sosa/Brad Schencker Roger stated that for the business fair, 14 out of 17 booths are filled. They will try to get more. In the Food Tent, they have 10 letters of intent, 2 are committed, and 4 are pending, They have space for 16 vendors, total. There will be no carnival food in the Food Tent. In fund raising they have $24,000 committed at this time. As of last year they only had $17,000 so they are ahead of last year. Roger stated that he has a large check he is working through the system. He will announce it once he receives it. They have a number of new restaurants, Elbario Mexican food from Mundelein, Siri, which is Indian food from Wheeling, and Maison Marigold, which serves Indian food. For the Beer Tent, they will be going back to Prairie Crafts beer again. The Beer Tent will be open Monday alongside of the car show,hours anticipated to be noon to 4. Roger stated that they have received 60 cases of 16 ounce boxed water, which he may give to the not for profits to sell. Roger stated that they are still working on food for Monday. He is looking at food trucks, which can be placed on the field with the car show. Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson Debra asked how many grillers Roger had lined up. She stated that there are limitations on the number of grillers. Per the fire department, they all have to be on the south sideof the tent. Debra stated that the letters to the non-profits have gone out. Set Up Man: Eric Gordon Eric stated that they are ready. Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee Jackie stated that the applications are rolling in. The have about 6-7 non-profits who signed up also Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin Jane stated that she has a committed sponsor, but does not have a check yet. Jane has been meeting with Carol, her co-chair, and plans are moving ahead. Jane continues to need 15-19 ounce cans and card board egg cartons. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Eric Gordon Chuck had no report. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen stated that things are moving along. She asked, and it was confirmed that there will be space for the dancers. She said that she was not able to get Darth Vader, Chewbacca or the Storm Trooper. The provider of the walk arounds no long has those costumes.. We will have Wonder Woman, Belle and the Beast as walls arounds this year. Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Doug asked and Karen informed him that she does not have any riders yet. Doug stated he wants them as soon as possible as he is dealing with a new sound company. Karen stated that she is working on it. Doug asked Chuck about any additional needs he has for sound on the field on Monday. Chuck said that there will be music and a microphone will be needed. Marketing/Publicity Alan Danenberg/ Alan introduced Michael Yuloblowsky, who joined the subcommittee to help with the web site. Discussion continued about proposed changes for the website to make it more user friendly. Alan stated that he needs confirmation for the hours for the Arts and Crafts show. Alan also asked about info for the BBQ challenge. Chuck stated he has the application that is ready to be posted on the website. Alan asked Debra about the carnival hours and the wristband info. Alan asked Mike about the bus routes. Mike states they still don't know everything about the bus routes. They are talking about 2 express routes, one on each side of Lake Cook Road. Mike can get back to Alan in the next week or two. When asked, the site plan will remain the same per Mike.. Parking for the fitness center will not be available, They will move the porta potties to a new location site this year. Alan Nudelmann pointed out that there will be a new bus flow from south to north, for drop off at the festival, reversed from last year. Clicks and Shsutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak - Hal and Jim had no report. Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett Cody and Diane were not present. Paulette stated that there will be a car show on Monday. There is a question on how many cars they will have. The stage will be gone and there will be space for about 200 cars per Mike. Volunteers will be needed to help organize the cars and getting them into rows. Information Booth/Ice: Marc Spunt Marc asked that if you are volunteering at the Info Booth,please be polite even if they ask where the info booth is. Arla stated that they need more schedules at the info booth. They ran out last year. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson Debra had no report. Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman Alan stated that he had a meeting with Sergeant Kondrat about the parking. Alan stated that the Park District Health Center will be open the entire weekend, and we will not have those spots for parking for the festival. We will have to go in the south end of the lot. Alan suggested that the health club post a sign a week before the festival to inform members that access to their parking is from south to north only. Bill stated that they have a rolling screen they can post it on and send out emails to members to inform them of the south to north access to the parking lot. Bill said that emails are sent out to members weekly. Alan stated that access will be south to north for drop off/pick up for the bus routes. ,There will be 4 zones on the right hand side, the first zone will be drop off for busses. The next 2 zones will be pick up for the north route and the south route. The 4"' zone will be drop off for cars. A question was raised on how to make more room for motor cycles. Rhonda stated that they can't be on gravel or grass. They must be on pavement. There also was a problem with bicycles by the sprinkle park. This is being addressed. A suggestion was made to have benches at the loading zones for those who need them. Talk to park district for extra bike racks. Karen stated that by the back stage, we need to maintain the corridor for the BBQ challenge and the Arts and Crafts entrance and egress of the participants. They are also thinking about charging $5 to $10 for parking near the festival. Alan reminded the committee that he needs a co-chair. This year, he is going to ask for volunteers to give for specific time slots they are willing to work, Village Liaison: Mike Reynolds Mike had no report Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Joanne Johnson Andy is out of town and had no report.
