The meeting was called to order at 7:10
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV welcomed our new police liaison, Michelle Kondrat who will be replacing Tony
Goldstein.
Paulette stated that she met with the people at the Village this week and they discussed
having express but routes in each county. Suggestions for the express bus stops were the
Metra train parking lot for Lake County and the parking lot for Chase Plaza, where Buffalo
Restaurant is or the empty Bob Rohrman auto parking lot for the Cook County stop.
Paulette stated the even if there are"express bus lines"they would continue with the
"regular bus stops also.
Paulette also discussed the issue of the drop off lane for the festival. She stated that the
buses will be routed from Route 83 to run north into the festival, exiting on Deerfield
Parkway. This way, the passengers are dropped off on the grass/sidewalk. Pick up may be
closer to the health club.
Police: Vince Positano/Michelle Kondrdt
Michelle had no report.
Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung
Rodney stated that he has begun stuffing envelopes. He has already received seven
applications for the parade. He now has jugglers and a Mini Cooper Club.
Mobile Com: Paul Zucher
Paul was not present and emailed his no report.
Fun and Food: Mara Sabath/Debra Jess
Mara had no report.
Fire Department: Joe Welter
Joe was not present.
Park District: Allison Christopoulos
A question was raised about the placement of the bike racks, whether they should be in the
same place or a new one. There was no decision made at the meeting.
The Labor Day Fitness Center hours are posted online. They are Thursday until 10 PM,
Friday until 9 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 7 PM. It is closed Monday.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds
Mike will speak to Dave about a bench for senior citizens and pregnant women to rest
while waiting for bus at the festival location.
There are areas that need to be accessible by truck.
There will be 2 public works staff assigned to the festival to alleviate garbage and cleaning
issues
Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Roger Sosa
Paulette received a report from Roger.
Letters of intent and forms have been sent to last year's business fair participants and food
vendors. They will be sending another wave of forms this week with a deadline for
completion.
They are already meeting to plan the food tent, the business fair and the beer tent with
Chamber members.
They are exploring the possibility of a beer tasting event on Thursday with multiple Lake
County brewers and maybe food trucks.
They have started fundraising and are ahead of schedule from last year.
Prairie Kraft is returning.
They are finding it very hard, if not impossible, to have both craft and commercial beers in
the same tent due to distribution contracts with vendors that prohibit multiple vendors in
same tent
Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson
Debra stated that she likes the new traffic flow for drop off.
Debra questioned the Porta potty placement near the food tent.
Debra stated that the parking lot behind the food tent is reserved for restaurants.
They will be contacting the not for profits after logistics of the food tent are worked out.
Set Up Man: Eric Gordon
Eric was not present.
Arts and Crafts: Jackie Beegun/Sarah Lee
Jackie stated that they have 4 vendors already. One crafter will be doing spray shirts. They
have requested to be there Thursday through Monday. JV advised Jackie to limit their
business. They are paying $125 for three days. He suggested they can add Friday only for
an additional $50. Jackie stated that the vendor will pay up to $250 to participate for the 5
days. Mike will check with Dave at Public Works regarding their electric needs.
Jackie stated that they have sent out 100 applications.. They are looking into redoing the
layout.
Kids Craft Tent: Jane Primack/Carol Irvin
Jane was not present but emailed her report.
She continues to need for 15 to 19 ounce cans. She will pick up between meetings if
anyone wants to get rid of them sooner.
Jane is looking into sponsorship for the Kid's Craft Tent.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak
Chuck had no report.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen stated that on Friday, High Infidelity will perform. She is still looking for her
Saturday band. Sunday, American English will perform.
Karen stated that she will reassess performance areas since the dancers will not return if the
dance layout is the same as last year.
Karen stated that there are beer tent issues that need to be addressed.
She will have a discussion with the concerned parties.
Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
Doug had no report.
Marketing/Publicity: Alan Danenberg/
Alan stated that the Village has some concern about multiple email addresses used by BG
Days sub committees. Alan is working with the Village as they want more consistency if
emails and want them under the vbg.org umbrella in view of FOIA requirements. Alan
stated that it may be too late for this year as sub committees have begun communications
interested parties. He hopes he will be able to bring them all under the umbrella of
vbg.org next year. .He will be coordinating with each chair and the Village to rectify the
issue.. He will copy JV, Paulette, and Jane as he moves forward with this.
Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak—
Hal was not present.
Car Show: Cody and Diane Bartlett
Cody stated that they would set up at 10 with event hours of 11 to 4.
There will be three categories with three awards in each category and a possible trustee
award pick and spectators' pick.
He has already been in contact with Crown Trophy for the awards.
He is looking into possible sponsorship. Two businesses have been contacted with a
possible $500 from each
He is considering possible give aways,raffles, and donations. donations
He is requesting a pop up tent and a table.
He will need electric for sound, music and speakers.
Information Booth: Marc Spunt
