The meeting was called to order at 7:07.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
Paulette brought the new shirts.
Paulette stated that we have 24 days to go before the start of the festival.
Paulette introduced a new member, Sarah Lee, who is joining the committee.
JV wished Arla Happy Birthday.
JV stated that next week is the vendor and business fair meeting.
JV also announced that next Tuesday Janee and he will have been married 25 years.
Alan asked if Paulette wants brochures for the vendor meeting. Paulette stated yes.
Police: Vince Positano/Tony Goldstein
Tony had no report.
Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung
Rodney stated that he has the check from the parade sponsor, Buffalo Restaurant.
Rodney stated that as of yesterday, he has 73 entrants marching in the parade. He has 6-7
more coming in.
Rodney stated that the streets they stage the parade on are going to be under construction,
so he may be moving the staging areas.
Rodney needs one more driver to drive the Grand Marshal. It is a convertible.
Rodney said that he needs parade marshals the day of the parade.
He has been collecting entry money from the commercial entries and politicians in the
parade.
Mobile Com: Paul Zucher
Paul was not present and had no report.
Paul will be present for the final 2 meetings.
Fun and Food: Mara Sabath/Mo Welborn
Mara was ill and not present.
Mo stated that they needs drivers for the disability carts. She has a signup sheet up front.
She also needs people to help with the food pick up on Monday morning.
Fire Department: Joe Welter
Joe was not present and had no report.
Park District: Teri Ebner/Allison Christopoulos
Bill Heider was representing the Park District tonight.
Bill was questioning the parade route. Emmerick Park will be a shuttle stop. Bill stated
that there is a Bills football game Saturday morning. He does not feel it will be a problem
but wanted the committee to know about it.
Bill was questioned about the smoking ordinance. He stated that there is no smoking on
Park District property. Only service dogs will be allowed at the festival. No other dogs
will be allowed. There will be signage up stating this. Alan stated that this is in the
brochure and on the website.
When asked, Bill stated that the bike racks will be placed along the curb along Route 83.
There will be 2 locations for the bike racks, each location holding 30 bikes,
Bill stated that the Stampede will be Sunday morning. They should be done by 10:00.
There may be some overlap with the Arts and Crafts people trying to get access. The road
along the fitness center from Deerfield Road to Route 83 will be part of the race route..
Alcott will be open on Sunday starting at 9:00 for bathroom use and as a cooling center.
Bill stated that the ball park field lights will be left on. Dave will take care of then off at
night. The lights are controlled by field 2. The festival shuts down at 12 so lights will be
shut off at 1. The Carnival closes at 11, the Beer Tent at 12.
JV thanked Bill for all the work the Park District has done with the move, along with
thanks to the Police and Public works.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds
Dave was present.
Dave said to make sure he had the information from everyone on sponsorship and signs. If
you need a sign, all requests must go through Paulette. He needs sponsor names and their
logo's.
JV thanked Dave for all of his and his department's for hard work.
Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Roger Sosa
Roger stated that the Beer Tent is good.
He needs volunteers to serve the beverages from the Beer Tent.
They will provide training for serving and will answer questions.
He said he is getting contracts back from food vendor.
For sponsorship, he is a little over $20,000. Sponsorship is stuck where they have been,
Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Perini and Debra were not present.
Set Up Man: Eric Gordon
Eric was not present.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak/Jackie Beegun
Jim stated that they have 30 spaces filled along with 5 additional spaces for non-craft
booths, which will be not for profits. He is expecting at least 5 to 10 more crafters. He will
close down application acceptance at the end of the week.
Van Man: Eric Gordon
Steve he has the van signup sheet. Someone needs to man the van in case a crafter needs
transportation back to their vehicle. If you plan on driving the van, they will need copy of
your license.
The van will also be used for parade transport for the handicapped.
Kids Craft Tent: Roshel Rivellino/Jane Primack
Jane is finished with shopping for the event and is under budget....for now. She found lots
of donations that has helped the budget. She will need an adult volunteer for the entire
time to allow the chairs to leave for a bit if needed. A signup sheet is in front.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Matt Dionesotes
Chuck stated that the applications are coming in slowly. He has 20 plates, with 6 to 7
grillers.
Entertainment: Karen Dancnberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen stated that she is good. She said that she will need extra hands to help with
entertainment. Any newbies looking for something to do, she can put you to work. The
Kid's Stage needs staffing. She will need security guys around the Main Stage.
Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
Doug could not attend. He had no report.
Adam had no report.
Bob had no report.
Publicity: Alan Danenberg
Alan stated that he is waiting for the brochures, which are at the printer.
The Daily Herald's creative team completed the lay out.
He still needs info from the radio station.
Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak-
Jim had no report.
Information Booth: Marc Spunt/Mo Welborn
Marc could not attend and had no info.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Perini and Debra were not present.
Paulette stated that they had no report.
Iceman: Ron Jess
Ron was not present.
Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman
Alan was not present but emailed his report to Jane.
Officer Goldstein should be bringing 25 permits for the green lot for food vendors, 15
permits for the green lot for the carnival workers, and 80 permits for the green lot for the
members of the BG Days committee. If you take a permit,please enter your name and
contact information on the sheet keeping track of the permits.
Officer Goldstein should also have 20 permits for the red lot for the Buffalo Grove Park
District employees who need to be in the building over the BG Days weekend. Bill Heider
is responsible for distributing those permits.
Thank you for all three of the people who have already volunteered for parking lot duty.
We need more people signing up. Please do so on the sheet at the front desk, or online.
Village Liaison: Scott Anderson
Scott was not present
Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Steve Trilling
Andy could not attend but had no report.
Steve was not present. He was taking his 83 year old mother to see Barbra Streisand.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Paulette said that the Cook County Community Service department will send people over
to help during the weekend. They are looking for completing 16 to 23 service hours for
DUI or other low level problems. Paulette said that as soon as she gets them on campus,
she will move them to the arts and crafts and parking areas. They all live in the area.
Jim stated that the Arts and Crafts will need blue shirt tent sitters. You just sit in the booth
and watch over things while the crafters go get something to eat or go to the bathroom.
Arla said the Blood Drive is at the Alcott Center Saturday morning 8-1.
Lori and Ron thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks.
Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Alan seconded the motion.
