The meeting was called to order at 7:06.
Chairman's Report: JV Sprinaman/Paulette Greenberg
JV said that there are 29 days to go.
Paulette wished Jim a Happy Birthday.
Paulette stated that the shirts are at the silk screeners. She ordered the medium blue, not
navy or sky blue.
The feather flags and banner are up at Rylko Park. The feather flags will be moved to label
each location for easy identification when the festival begins.
The signup sheets are ready. Help is needed at the kids craft tent, parking, van driving, the
BBQ Challenge judging and other spots during the festival.
The posters are here. Please take a few and bring them to the local businesses to place in
their windows. Chamber also has the poster to pass out to the members. The balance of the
posters will be at the vendor meeting on August 16th to pass out there.
JV stated that he left an envelope $250 at the Hacketts for the grandkids.
Police: Vince Positano/Tony Goldstein
Vince had no report. The schedule is done and the parking issues have been resolved.
Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung
Rodney stated that he has 60 entries in the parade so far.
He got Sid Mathias yesterday.
He has 10 Shriner chapters and 6 other organizations, including bands.
He has 4 politicians and 9 businesses.
Rodney stated that he needs parade marshals for specific corners of the parade. He has a
signup sheet. If you are volunteering, you need to be there by 9:15 to 9:30.
Rodney stated that he might need someone to sit in the lead squad car to let the police
know if they need to slow down the parade when people get too far ahead.
He also may need someone to drive another car for the second Grand Marshal.
Mobile Com: Paul Zucher
Paul could not be present. He emailed his report to Jane. The radios are ordered.
Fun and Food: Mara Sabath/Mo Welborn
Mo said that things are the same as last week.
Mo had the signup sheet for driving the disabilities carts or she need people to help with
picking up food on Monday. There was a signup sheet for that also.
Fire Department: Joe Welter
Joe said that he needs to know the location of the fire pole. Paulette told him to ask
Mike and Dave about the placement.
Park District: Teri Ebner/Allison Christopoulos
Allison could not be present. She is at National Night Out. She had no report.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds
Dave could not be present. He emailed that Public Works is good.
Mike had no report
JV stated that the sign and the feathers look great on Route 83.
JV stated that if you need any signs, talk to Paulette.
Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Roger Sosa
Paulette had Roger's report.
The Chamber has 17 business booths signed up. We have given Roger a 20 booth limit
this year. Dave will be placing the business fair booths with input from Roger once he
identifies the ones that need power.
Paulette stated that she sat with Manny of the Prairie Kraft Brewing Company today at a
luncheon. He would like to sell pitchers of beer but was told the police nixed that idea.
JV stated that if you want to volunteer serving at the Beer Tent, you must change out of
your committee shirt to do so. If you want to drink at the festival, you cannot do so in your
committee shirt. Bring another shirt to change into or place over your committee shirt.
Roger offered to let committee members serve at the Beer Tent.
Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Penni stated that they are still working on finalizing the vendors and their food choices.
They hope to be done by the vendor meeting.
They have to touch base with Joe about the layouts.
Everything that has a fryer or grill will be along the Route 83 side where there will not be
as much foot traffic. There will be better access for the fire department.
JV asked and Joe confirmed that there will be 6 fire extinguishers at the Food Tent.
Set Up Man: Eric Gordon
Eric has no report.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak/Jackie Beegun
Jim stated they have 26 signed up. He expects they will exceed 30.
He went back and begged previous crafters who agreed to come.
Van Man: Eric Gordon
If you want to drive the van, Eric needs to take a snap shot of your driver's license tonight.
Kids Craft Tent: Roshel Rivellino/Jane Primack
Jane stated that she finally met with Roshel and they have planned three new crafts this
year's, thanks to different items donated.
Jane also picked up a large box of yarn donated from a resident who is moving.
Jane asked if the face painter will be back this year and if so, what days and times. The
face painters will be there Saturday and Sunday from 2-5.
Jane also asked if anyone has Styrofoam egg cartons, to please bring them in. They use
them for paint and can save extra until the next day.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Matt Dionesotes
Chuck has 5 grillers so far. He will send Jane an email to pass on to committee members
for applicants.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen stated that she finally got one of the last straggles committed, Staley the Bear,
Karen asked and Vince confirmed that he will have parking passes together by the next
meeting.
Karen stated that the yellow parking lot is for beer tent and main stage performers only. It
is very small.
When asked, Karen confirmed that she and Doug will have passes to that lot.
Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
Doug said that they are in good shape,
Adam is meeting with Dave tomorrow, about setting up the stages.
Publicity: Alan Danenberg
The brochure is done and at the printers. It is on the website also.
The website is up to date with info added as needed.
Alan is working with the Daily Herald about the ads. In return we are giving them a table,
a chair and access to electricity at eh festival.
He has been talking with WXLC about their remote radio broadcast Friday night and the
spots that are aired on the radio the week before.
Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak-
Hal could not be present. He had no report.
Jim said they will be shooting.
Information Booth: Marc Spunt/Mo Welborn
Marc had no report.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Perini stated that the carnival is bringing a couple of new rides. We will still have the same
number of rides as previous years.
Jane asked about the mister. Joe said that the fire department will set it up.
There are carnival posters available for those who wish to take one. New this year is
residents can order wrist bands ahead of time on line and save $5.
Presale tickets available now.
Alan stated that there is a $3 ordering processing charge per order.when you order the wrist
bands on line.
Iceman: Ron Jess
Ron had no report.
Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelman
Alan stated that there will be parking,
Alan stated that for the chairs that need parking passes,he will give them out at the next
meeting.
Paulette stated that they need the business fair and food vendor passes by August 16`" for
the vendor meeting.
Alan stated the he will be working the green lot which is for the volunteers.
The red lot is for the park district people.
The blue lot is for the police, who must come in their own cars.
Alan needs volunteers to control people going into the green lot.
Paulette suggested the older Boy Scouts and people who need community service hours
from the courts could help. Paulette also stated that she will put a request for volunteers on
the village e-news. She hopes to get high school students who need volunteer hours for
graduation. Jane suggested contacting St. Mary's about their 8t" graders who need service
hours for confirmation.
Alan Danenberg said that the Daily Herald guy will need a parking pass.
Village Liaison: Scott Anderson
Scott was not present.
Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Steve Trilling
Steve could not be present.
Andy asked which lot will the elected officials park in and when will they get their passes.
Paulette said probably they will use the green lot and passes will be passed out when
passed out to the rest of the committee.
Andy had no report.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Rodney stated that Wednesday before the festival, they will pass out fliers to residents
along the parade route. He will need volunteers to help place the fliers.
Jim asked for a couple of volunteers for Saturday AM to help set up the Arts and Crafts
and Monday afternoon when they are breaking down.
JV thanked everyone who participates and works the festival. He said that it is a labor of
love.
JV also wanted thank Palette for all the work she puts in for the festival. He stays out of her
way and it works well.
Ron made a motion to adjourn. Rodney seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:38.
