Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg JV stated that Ron and Lori Hackett's daughter passed away this week. JV said that in lieu of flowers,he will take up a collection from the committee to give to the family for the kids. If interested, give whatever you wish to JV this week or at the next meeting. Paulette said the wake is tomorrow, Wednesday from 8:30-10:30 at Gluckert Funeral home in Arlington Heights. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church at 11:30. Paulette stated that we are now at 7 weeks out before the festival and the craziness has begun. You need to let her know what size and kind of shirts you want as she will be ordering them soon. If you need a name tag, there is a sing up sheet at the front. Janee stated she needs the list of needed name tags by August 1st Paulette stated that various sub committees will now need to be filled up. They are asking that you sign up for your preference or they may have to choose for you. Paulette reminded all committee members that on Thursday night, September 1st, the first night of the festival, lots of volunteers are needed to help change the Bingo Tent into the Food Tent. We will be moving chairs and tables. Paulette stated with all the emails she has been getting, one would think she was trying to corral a bunch of kittens. This will all come together and will be a great festival. The raffle tickets for the Cubs game tickets are still on sale at the Farmer's Market and will be on sale through Sunday of BG Days, when the winner's name will be drawn. Police: Vince Positano/Tony Goldstein Vince stated that planning is going well. They are in the scheduling phase. They have talked to Karen and Dave about the position of stage. Tony stated that they are switching where the carnival and village people park. The carnival employees will park in the skate park. The blue lot will be at the golf dome, for all village employees and their family. Parade: Rodney Odelson//Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung Rodney stated that Ed Jacobi,retired music director for Buffalo Grove High School and Jeff Slepak, retired music director for Stevenson High School 3 years ago, will be Co- Grand Marshals this year. They each have requested not to ride at the front of the parade but in front of their perspective bands. When asked, JV stated that the Grand Marshals are named by the trustees. Rodney has received 2 more applications, one each from the police and fire departments. He has 25 applications for the parade so far. . Rodney stated that he has ordered all the plaques at Crown Trophy. Debbi will be one of the judges. He needs to find another. When asked, Rodney said that he has no politicians have signed up yet.for the parade. He does have 6 businesses. Mobile Com: Paul Zucher Paul was not present. Fun and Food: Mara Sabath/Mo Welborn Mara said that everything going well. They will be serving pasta, garlic bread and salad for the lunch. Caputo's will also provide sandwiches. She has 200 bottles of water so far donated by Walgreens. When asked, Mara stated that in previous years, they had planned for 500 participants. She is thinking of planning for only 350 as the attendance has been down the last 2 years. Alan wanted to know if the suppliers of food should be listed as in kind sponsors. Mara agreed. Paulette stated that there are goodie bags already bagged in the cage, at least 200 of them. They do not need any goodie bags items this year. Fire Department: Joe Welter Joe could not be present but emailed his "no report"to Jane. Park District: Teri Ebner/Allison Christopoulos Allison had no report. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Mike Reynolds Mike could not be present but emailed his "no report"to Jane. Paulette stated that public works is making a sign "Home of the Buffalo Grove Days here" to be place at our new location. There will be a feather flag for each event area. Three of these will be placed on each side of the large sign. For the festival, they will move them to each particular area., Feather flags will include the Carnival, Business Fair, Arts and Crafts, Food Tent. Main Stage, etc. They will be double sided. Chamber/Local Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Roger Sosa Roger stated that the Beer Tent is going along well. Bob Chins no longer makes mai tai's. Roger is researching other options. Roger asked about storage for their supplies. Paulette stated there will be a trailer behind the info booth for storage of committee supplies. Roger has $15,500 in commitments for the Sponsorship and has more possibly coming in. There are 21 businesses in the Business Fair. The soft ball game is on. They still need to settle on the location. The vendor meeting will be August 16t". There will be no BG Days meeting that day. Food Tent: Debra Jess/Penn Raphaelson Perini stated that the first round of contracts have been sent out. They are already hearing back from some folks, requesting additional items and days to sell. Roger stated contracts are already coming back in with payments. Set Up Man: Eric Gordon Eric stated that on Thursday he will need as many peoples as possible to change the Bingo Tent into the Food Tent. Eric stated that 10:00 is the start time for changing the tents if hopefully, bingo will stop on time. When asked, Paulette stated that the blowers will be put in a gater and brought over to the new location and then taken back. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak/Jackie Beegun Jim stated that the applications are starting to trickle in. He is getting a few more. Most of the long time crafters are pulling because they are unsure of the new location. Jackie will be taking over for Jim and Joan after this year. Van Men: Eric Gordon/Steve Antman Eric stated the committee will be the Van Men as Steve Antman will be co-chair with him. Eric asked that everyone take a look at their schedules at he will have a signup sheet for next meeting. He also asked if you are planning on driving the van, to bring a copy of your driver's license. He can also take a copy with his phone. Paulette stated that the van is rented. Kids Craft Tent: Roshel Rivellino/Jane Primack Jane said that there will be kids and there will be crafts. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posmak/ Matt Dionesotes Chuck stated that he has 2 applicants so far,both Eric. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen stated that everything is good. She has been in touch with the police to coordinate security for the Main Stage. Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Doug asked if there are any more riders that have come in. He requested that Karen email them to Adam and himself. Publicity: Alan Danenberg Everything for the brochure has been submitted to the village except the shuttle routes. They still need permission to run the buses in and out of the bus company's yard. We are not using their buses. Clicks and Shutters: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak- Jim stated that they will do the best they can with the manpower they have. Information Booth: Marc Spunt/Mo Welborn Marc stated that info is fine. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson Perini stated that there is no big deal. They will be there. Iceman: Ron Jess The Ice man will be there. Parking and Traffic Control: Alan Nudelmanchair and pop up tent. Alan stated that 40 to 60 hours of volunteers hours are needed. He states that he expects everyone on the committee to sign up for at least one hour of parking lot duty. They will be controlling who goes into the green lots. Paulette stated that after 6:30 or 7 we will open the lots to the public. Any committee members who need to be on campus will already be there. The Mike Rylko Park will be changed to be used by the carnival employees. Village Liaison: Scott Anderson Scott was not present Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Steve Trilling Andy was out of town but emailed his "no report"to Jane. Steve has no comment. Steve asked and Paulette confirmed that they will send out a map before the festival. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members When Debi asked, Paulette stated that "Staff'will be on the back of the shirts. Janee needs the list of needed name tags before August I". Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Eric seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:42.
