Approval of Minutes: This was the first meeting of the year, no prior minutes to approve.
Chair's Report:
Paulette said that she is sorry we could not be together but at least we are able to meet via zoom
Paulette has been asked by the Village Board to get an idea of the committee's thoughts about
BG Days this year.
Paulette said that we lost a number of people this past year: Rick Kahen, Randy Kitell, Eric
Gordon, and Betty Lou lost her husband 2 weeks ago.
Some members of the committee have had COVID.
New members: Mindy Lazor, Nina Baker,
The Village doesn't know if we are going to have BG Days at all, or a modified version this
year.
JV will be coming back this year as co-chair, with Eric gone, if we do have BG days. Bev asked
him to come back.
Mike Skibbe, our new Village Liaison, will have a discussion with the trustees. Should BG Days
run this year in a modified format or push it off for another year. Mike was asked to come back
with some information about what contracts are needed, how to modify them if we need to and
the out costs for these contracts
An update of discussions about having an event, or cancelling it again in 2021 occurred.
The general sense from the Village Board is they would like to have some kind of BG Days, but
some parts will need to be modified or we will not be able to have certain events/aspects such as
the food tent, buses, beer tent or parade this year.
Trustee Eric Smith would like to have the event. The Board's thoughts are having the event in
the same format as previous years is probably not going to happen, Eric feels it could happen if
we could negotiate with our vendors not lose out money. The Village will not be placing any
more deposits for now. The thought is to wait until we are a couple of months out. Eric in the
minority with the thoughts it could happen as usual.
Mike says that the staff feels that it would be nice for a modified BG Days to happen.
A discussion of contracts and contract deadline dates was lead by Brett Robinson.
Sub-Committee Reports:
Entertainment: Karen said she is looking at modifying a lot, no face painters, balloon guy, walk
arounds. She said that we could still have a main stage but could not not have a beer tent with
entertainment. No entertainment is booked. She can get a band as late as August 1st if she has
to.
Volunteers: The committee discussed how many members will be vaccinated, and how many
members may be interested in volunteering for an event this year.
Eric suggested that we put the decision off as long as possible. We don't know what will happen
6 months from now. He asked if we can get away from giving deposits until then. If we are
going ahead with this, do we have enough people on the committee who are willing to volunteer.
With limited events we will have a limited volunteer need.
Eric asked if we can reach out to those who were not present. Will they volunteer? Jane said that
she would take care of that. Eric said that we cannot run BG Days with 15 volunteers.
Paulette will send a survey to all committee members and report back.
Eric Smith and Mike Skibbe will take the committee suggestions and discussion back to the
Village Board.
Communications: No Updates
Questions from the Public: No questions.
Adjournment: The meeting concluded by 8:35 PM
