1994-01-26 - Committee on Aging - Minutes �' u �� ��� MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE , BUFFALO GROVE JOINT COMMISSION ON AGING Thursday, January 26, 7 PM Alcott Center, 530 Bernazd Drive The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Harriet Rubenstein at 7:05 P.M. Members in attendance: Harriet Rubenstein, Park Board Trustee Bob McNeely, Gina Sheade,�arolyn Swanson, Diane Breslow, Phillip Versten. Approval of Minutes-Moved by Mr. Versten, second by Ms. Sheade. Minutes approved. Correspondence-Ms. Rubenstein shared a letter from Ann O'Brien, Senior Advocate of Catholic Charities'Case Coordination Unit. This unit of�ers various social and advocacy programs for seniors in Northwest Cook County. Ms. Breslow indicated that we should be sure to include the Unit among our invitees when we offer an exhibition or open house. Ms. Swanson added that a Lake County chapter of the organization ezists as well. Resource Library Update-Ms. Sheade proposed the titles of the pieces in the library be organized by category,perhaps on index card, as opposed to using article summaries. The Commission agreed. Ms. Sheade reported that the library was getting some use and tnat she wouid talk to ttie Park UistricYs Active Agers coordinator about ideas for keeping seniors informed and aware, on a recurring basis, of this resource. Senior Leisure Programs Update- The Commission reviewed "Avenues,"the Active Agers newsletter, commenting positively all around. New Business- Taxi Service Registration at Active Agers Meetings Mr. Versten responded to the inquiry from the Commission as to whether the Village would agree to have registration into the taxi cab program available at the Active Agers meeting. Mr. Versten stated that the Park District can register Buffalo Grove seniors, and that such registration can be ongoing. He indicated that he would forward the applications and program description to Mr. Schimmel. Adjournment- There being no other business, the next meeting was scheduled for February 23. Ms. Sheade moved to adjourn, Ms. Swanson seconded. Meeting adjourned. ,
