JOINT COMMISSION ON AGING
MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER�, 1994
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Bonnie Factor ai 7.•10 p.m.
Members in attendance included: Bonnie Factor, Diane Breslow, Marilyn Shar, Howard Eiseman,
Bob McNeely, Phil Versten, Dan Schimmel.
The agenda was approved with the addition of proposed dates for the commission by Diane, seconded
by Marilyn and passed by voice vote.
Bonnie asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the Joint Commission on Aging of
October 27, 1994. A motion was made by Diane to approve the minutes as presented. Motion was
seconded by Marilyn and approved by voice vote.
� Correspondence-Dan reponed that members received invitation to the Active Agers Holiday
Luncheon to be held at Chippers.
Resource Library Update - In Gina's absence, Dan reported that arry additional help would be
appreciated. Phil has included information in the village newsletter aboul the library, Teri Ebner is
the person to contact.
Transponation Issue Updates -Dan reported that the "How Can I Get There?"informulional sheet
has been distributed to the Active Agers, and townships. It now needs to be distributed to individuals
with disabilities and to the area libraries. This inforniation will also be inc[uded in the village
newslener.

Phil reviewed his correspondence on deregu[ation of taxi cab rates. T�ie comments by Earl Sabes
�-' were very short in the letter, and Phil will be obtaining more specific infornration for the commission.
At present approximately 60 seniors are signed up to use the service. Once the information appeared
in the village newsletter, an additional 60 seniors signed up. The commission asked for more specifics
on actual senior ridership numbers.
The deregulaxion of cab fares was up for discussion. There is consensus of those in attendance this
evening thai if the$2.50 subsidy was maintained that we will certainly suppon the deregulation in
good conscience. Phil will come up with categories to monitor for the next meeting.
Senior Leisure Programs Updaie -Dan reported that Teri Ebner was hired as the Senior Coordinator.
Teri ran her first trip which was a Casino Trip and 92 seniors attended.
Active Agers Newsletter was distributed to the members of the commission.
Proposed Meeting Dates - Phil Versten moved to approve the proposed dates for the Joint Commission
on Aging Council Meetings, seconded by Dan Schimmel and passed by voice vote.
� Adjournment- Phil Versten moved to adjourn the meeting at 7.•SO p.m., seconded by
Dan Schimmel.
