conflicts
Approval of Minutes for the Meeting of February 23, 1995 were not prepared in time for ihis
meeti»g. Dan Schimmel will prepare and include in the next packet.
Resource Library Update-Gina reported that she was pretty much caught up with the new batch
of materials receivec Dan did bring in several new pieces that had just been received during
the past two weeks. He did report that the onslaught of new materials was slowing down
somewhat.
Senior Leis7ire Programs Update -Dan reported that 90 seniors were registered to go on a
"Casino"trip on Apri13. In addition, Terry Ebner was working on rescheduling several events
because of a schedule conflict with the Senior Days Event put on by Lake County. We will be
running a bus to that eveni. In addition, the park district will be distributing information for the
Senior Olympics to be held in May. We hope to have more participation from our group this
year: Terry also auended the Governor Conference on Aging held at ihe Schaumburg Hyatt in
late March.
Dan reported that negotiations with Siegel's broke down and that it did not look like the park
district would be expauiing iito that facility. The new costs for renting that facility were going
to be more than constructing a new facility from scratch.
Survev of Services-Phil reported that Roosevelt University students would not be made
available to the commission for ihe purposes of doing a survey. It appears that the professor
really didn't like the project and didn't think that it would be the right kind of project for his
students. There was some discussion about using local state universities or junior colleges if we
really wanted to do a survey.
Phil then presented a draft survey for review by the Commission. The thought was to help the
Commission in determining what the needs were by completing a needs assessment. The survey
could be printed in the village newsletter on a special insert, fnded by the village. The park
district and village were prepared to pay for 'prepaid return postage': The difficulty would be
on tabulating results.
