Buffalo Grove Joint Commission on Aging
Minutes of May 2S, 1995
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Harriet Rubinstein at 7:10 PM.
Commission Members in Attendance: Harriet Rubinstein, Diane Breslow, Gina Sheade, Bob
McNeely, Phil Versten and Dan Schimmel.
The Minutes for the February 23, 1995 and March 23, 1995 Meetings were approved by general
consensus.
Conespondence: Harriet shared several pieces of information. In particular, she shared with us
the Minutes from the Northwest Regional Transportation Consortium meeting. In related _
discussion concerning this group, Harriet presented the survey that the Consortium is compiling.
In the preliminary survey, no information had been included for Buffalo Grove. Phil Versten has .
been informed and will be supplying the information for the Consortium.
Dan reported that letters had been sent to all government service agencies in Buffalo Grove
offering the services of the Joint Commission on Aging. These letters were sent to the townships,
village, library and sehool districts.
Resource Files: Gina reported that she had compiled all of the resources collected into a listing.
This list was distributed to the Commission for review. It is an excellent document and
demonstrates the efforts of the Commission to collect resource information for older residents.
Park District Activities: Dan distributed the Senior Newsletter to the Commission. It was
suggested that the Newsletter be sent to the local Churches, Synagogues, library and village for
posting at their facilities. This will be done.
Village Newsletter: Staffwere directed to develop two stories for release in the village
newsletter. They aze stories on the Resource Library and a general introduction of the
Commission.
