Mr. Bill Balling, Village Manager
Village of Buffalo Grove
50 Raupp Boulevard
Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60189
Dear Bill,
Please find enclosed a letter drafted by Bonnie Factor, one of our commission members on the Joint
Commission on Aging. Bonnie has been invited through the Citizen's Ambassador Program of People to
People International, to visit China as part of a delegation studying older adults. As presented in the
enclosed letter, Bonnie's expertise is in providing leisure programs for older adults, for managing adult
day care facilities, and for serving individuals suffering from Alzheimer or stroke.
Typically, the park district dces not provide funds for the professional development of commission
members. However, according to Park Commissioner Bob McNeely, the Commission has benefitted
gready from Bonnie's experiences over the past three years. Bob strongly believes that Bonnie will come
back with a greater understanding of how to provide quality services for older adults. With this in mind,
the Board of Commissioners for the Buffalo Grove Park District decided to assist Bonnie by contributing
$250.00 to the Citizen's Ambassador Program for this purpose. Bonnie will be expected to present a
review of this experience to the Joint Commission on Aging, to our park district board, and to the Active
Agers.
The Board of Commissioners would also like to encourage the Village of Buffalo Grove to also consider
making a contribution to the Citizen's Ambassador Program on Bonnie's behalf. If you have any
questions, feel free to call me at 459-5700, ext. 110.
Respectfully,
Mike Rylko
Director of Parks and Recreation
