He will then mail it out to all participants who signed in. Dan reminded the Council that we had hoped to do a follow up meeting with the"leisure" group. He suggested that all groups be invited to one meeting and that we again break out in our smaller groups. The goal is to explore real solutions to some of the problems identified. It was decided that this meeting would be held on August 29, 1996 at 7:30 PM in the Alcott Leisure Center. Dan has secured three classrooms for this meeting. The agenda appears to be as follows: I. Introductory Comments II. Break Outs III. Return to Large Groups We will once again need help from the committee in facilitating discussions and in running the meeting. Brian Rubin mentioned that the video of the meeting goes on cable on July 19 and will be shown on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please call Phil for a more accurate schedule. Workshops: Karolyn reported on a series of workshops held at St. Peters Church in Schaumburg dealing with aging issues. They held four sessions, one each week, on Aging, Dementia and Alzheimer, Care giving, and Leisure. The response was better than they expected. There was discussion about what already might be out there, and the fact that normal advertising (brochure and village newsletter) advertising deadlines were already missed for Fall. It was decided that if it was attempted, we would have to use other means to advertise. It was also decided that we would pursue this workshop concept with the service providers participating in the follow up meeting. This way we can help foster partnering. Bonnie suggested that we may be able to develop a speakers bureau out of this effort with Karolyn quickly agreeing on this concept. Yillage and Park District Boards: Brian Rubin reported that the two Boards hoped to get together to review cooperative ventures and other joint concerns. Two concerns to be addressed are cultural arts and senior services. He hoped that with these two agencies getting together, and with corporate support, something could be done for both concerns. Dan mentioned the Park District's efforts to enter into a partnership with a local hospital to build a fitness center. The hope is that if one is built, it may be possible to generate the funding for senior program rooms through other fund raising efforts. Directory: Dan had nothing new to report except that he hopes to assign the directory to an intern starting in the Fall. Park District Activities: Dan distributed the latest senior newsletter. The meeting adjoined at 8:10 PM.
