SUBJ: STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION
Bill:
This memo is meant to summarize the format and intent of the Village
Board strategic planning workshop on July 24th. What I would like to accom-
plish is the establishment of a framework for setting the goals and policies
of our Comprehensive Plan update. This will be done by utilizing a strategic
planning process. This process is made up of three elements. The first is
called the "Vision" workshop. In this workshop we will attempt to bring out
ideas of what the Trustees would like the Village to become within the next
20 years. The second session is called the "Contradictions" workshop. The
intent of this workshop is to identify the "blocks" which exist that are
keeping us from accomplishing the goals set in the "Vision" workshop. The
final session is known as the "Directions" workshop where we will attempt
to establish what we can do within the coming year in order to achieve our
long term goals.
I would anticipate that the entire session will take four hours. This
will consist of approximately one hour per each of the three workshops and
one hour to discuss current planning issues.
