You inquire whether the above ordinance is legal.
Paragraph 11 -8 -1 of Chapter 24 Ill. Revd Statutes
recites in substance that the corporate authorities of
a municipality may establish and maintain for reason-
charges electrical appliances in public and private
buildings for fire and police protection, upon appli-
cation of the custodian of public buildings or of
the owners of private buildings. The ordinance
passed by the Village is almost a recitation of a
form of model ordinance that appears in Matthews
Municipal Ordinance book.
In my opinion our ordinance is legal and enforceable.
