Document Destruction The Buffalo Grove Document Destruction Event is one-day event that allows residents to destroy any sensitive documents such as medical records, tax forms, bank statements. Please note that the 2020 Document Destruction event will NOT include Electronics Recycling (computers and electronics). Frequently Asked Questions Who’s Invited to Participate: Buffalo Grove residents as well as any other residents who live in any of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) communities are invited participate. What to Bring: Paper documents (bring to the event in either paper shopping bags or boxes - no plastic bags). There is a limit of six paper shopping bags or file-size boxes per vehicle. Paper must be free of contamination, such as metal clips, plastic sleeves, folders, and binders. Additional information. Visit the SWANCC website. Hosted. In 2012, Illinois adopted legislation that prohibits landfilling of "Covered and Eligible Electronic Devices" which are listed in the table below. Under the Illinois Environmental Protection Act, there is a limit of seven (7) items per household and no electronics can be accepted from municipalities, schools, businesses, or institutions. Weekly SWANCC Resident Drop-Off Locations: The following location hosts weekly electronics collections for residents who live in any SWANCC member community. There is NO FEE for this service and unloading assistance is provided. Collection locations will be closed on national holidays and in severe weather. Only Residents of SWANCC member communities (/about-us/member-committee) may participate in events. IDs will be checked. Do not drop off electronics other than during posted dates and times.
