Approximate times 12:00-6:00 P.M. Police & fire & PW vehicles on display. Museum displays inside Council Chambers. Video running with history of Buffalo Grove. To be decided and determined: What size tent in public works parking lot(beer tent size used at BG Days?) Will we need table/chair rentals? Porta potty rental? Extra cleaning staff for restrooms Shuttle bus for parking away from the Campus site? Indian Trails Library has offered to display our material at the library Vernon Area Library has not advised if they will participate next year Janet is meeting with Jack Schmerer who previously offered to make the video of Buffalo Grove Janet, Carol, & Jane are meeting with the Daily Herald who is planning a special insert for next year Pioneer Press (Jan) has also inquired about a special insert/articles of the anniversary for next year. Logo: The vehicles stickers are in use, and the official stationery has been made up; samples were brought to the meeting. Sponsorship: we need to determine the different `levels' of sponsorship and what to call them. Possibilities were the jeweler's listing of 5 year/silver, 10 year/diamond, etc. Or use the Buffalo Grove Days levels of donations (silver, platinum, gold). Bruce suggested sponsorship for the car show, maybe Culver's as the owner Kevin has a classic car show in his parking lot in the summer months. Booklet: Is all organized and coming together. They will make the printing date of August 2007. Booklet to go out to all residents first part of February, 2008 Calendar - samples were passed out for review and spelling errors. Calendar will go out to all the residents on or about December 1, 2007. Car Show/Sock Hop: Paulette has heard from Dick Biondi's people - $4000 for 3 hours of being an MC. They asked questions we have not yet fully decided (Dj, live band). Janet says the $4000 fee is okay and within the budget. Paulette asked the consensus of a live band or a DJ- she will get prices and advise at the next meeting. Plans include a tent in the parking lot of public works and a stage. BG Singers/Band: Barbara is meeting with Linda Rosen (BG Singers). Event will be held at Buffalo Grove High School in the Miller Theatre. The rental fee for the theatre is not known tonight. We will have to pay a custodial fee of approx $45 per hour. The ice cream social will be held in the Commons or cafeteria area. She plans to contact local businesses concerning the ice cream social. She is also planning to ask the Arts Commission if they would like to help at this event. Plans also include contacting a local bank for sponsorship. Admission will be $5 per person. Park District: no report Time Capsule: Craig reports he has contacted Pioneer Press and spoke w/Jeff Finley. Jeff has no authority to spend money on this project. Craig has spoken with a company who makes these time capsules. They come in different sizes and are welded. Cap has rubber gaskets. The largest size is 16x16x30"/$1000. Another size is 16xl6xl6"/$700. Plus we will need a stone/plaque after capsule is buried. Craig would like the newspaper to pay for this and call the plaque "Buffalo Grove-Countryside Time Capsule". This will be buried by the flag poles outside the Village Hall entrance. License Plate: Ernie brought in a sample of what they would look like. These special plates can only be used for 60 days. Ernie chose July to September. Last year the fire department sold 200 of the special plates. Fee would be $25, and we have to order in increments of 100. People who order will have to supply a copy of their current registration with this application. We could put advertisement on the weekly e-mail from Village Hall, on the water bills, etc. Mike suggests we get presale orders before ordering them. Light Pole Banne,Bave at public works advises they can make them, per Paulette. Dave needs the art work. Janet suggests these will be put up around Village Hall on Lake Cook and Buffalo Grove Roads. Blanket: Discussion if it will sell or will they becomes gifts at the annual volunteer reception. This idea has been dropped. Joan showed pins that could be made up for less than $1 each if we order several hundred. Sizes were 3/4" and 5/8 ". Key chains are also available, and everyone was enthusiastic about the key chains. Jennie suggested a kitchen towel or golf towel with images of local buildings imprinted on them. Note cards: Jennie has discussed with the art teacher Senior Center, who runs classes there. This will be the spring project. We can accept watercolors, pen/ink drawings/ computer designed pictures. Themes will be historical/ activities/seasonal. Cards will be made up on 4x6 card stock paper. Jennie suggests a contest for the entries. With V, 2nd etc prizes. Discussion nixed that but agreed all the artists will be recognized at Village Hall with a certificate of appreciation/mentioned in the Newsletter and local newspapers. This is open to all seniors in Buffalo Grove, not just the ones who attend the art class at the Senior Center. Candy: Paulette has passed on the Logo to Long Grove Confectionary. Veteran's Display: Lou advises he has a Post Flag and is working on securing other items for display during the March 8-9th weekend. Sponsorship: no report Suggestion by Susan: The garden club would like to plant a tree or put a park bench by the time capsule. Maybe they can donate the marker "Sponsored by the Garden Club". Mike says perhaps the Park District will contribute to the marker. Janet suggests the members could also plant flowers/shrubs etc around the time capsule. T-Shirts: suggestion to sell 50rh logo shirts at BG Days - voted no Shirts for committee members: a "polo" type shirt w/collar; embroidery on chest, the type made by Land's End about $19.50 each. Everyone liked the idea. Next Meeting: Thursday May 10, 2007 at Village Bar & Grill Meeting adjourned at 8.40 P.M.
