They are looking for more photos on community groups for the last 50 years for inclusion in the book. So far, 68 pages are targeted for the book. Cost of the booklet and calendar $44,000 to $45,000 is estimated. Calendar will have no ads just corporate logos. Rich said it is too early to try and find sponsors for the calendar or booklet. However, Bev stated the calendar is going to press November 2007, so it can be sent out to all residents in December 2007. The Booklet is going to press January 2008 and will be out in February to the residents. Suggestion: after press time recognize the donations via village newsletter. Need to create a form for the next newsletter and advertise for inclusion in both publications. Car Shop/Sock Hop: Paulette advised, she and Janet attended a car show at Lake County Fairgrounds and met the officers of the Chicago Land Classic Car Club. This is the club that sponsors the cruise nights in Rolling Meadows and now Meijer's on Friday nights in Arlington Heights. They can supply the club members and the pre 1982 cars. They require a voting and trophies. Paulette & Janet said we could let the public do the voting for the cars. They would be here Sam to 3pm. We will also have Raceline Motors at Hawthorne Mall set up an interactive display to play with cars. Also envisioned is hot dog vendor and ice cream. The Sock Hop begins at 7pm to 11.30pm the same day. We have a confirmed contract from Dick Biondi, he will be here 7pm to IOpm. At night, plans for a wine/beer bar-cash. Will have to contact local liquor stores to handle. A suggestion was made to contact Lou Malnati's. Committee could sell water/pop during the day and night. We will charge $5 admission to the sock hop to offset the costs of this event. We will have to rent the tent/tables and chairs, porta potties, maintenance etc. Rich suggested car dealers as sponsors. Paulette said ok for the evening sock hop but the car show is already sponsored by Chicago Land Classic Car Club, and stated as such in the advertising. Band/Singers Concert: Barbara reports Stevenson High School will be used, for the August 3d event. Fee will be $5 per person children under 12 are free. She also spoke with Mr. Patel of Kalidascoops ice cream. He will supply the ice cream sundaes (1 scoop w/toppings) for $1.60 per person. (Store price $2.49 each). Expecting 250-500 people to attend the event: Complementary ice cream afterwards. Buffalo Grove Bank has already donated $1000 for this event! Grease: Janet has been in discussion w. Lindsay at the Park District. They see `problems' with some swear words in the script. Historical& Library Displays: Janet has a neighbor who volunteered to help on this committee. We will have 2 display cases in Village Hall to use for 9 months. Debbie at the Museum will help supply the cases. Also a photo wall for the pictures provided by the Vernon Area Library. Janet still is looking for the `Buffalo Head' for the display. It is somewhere in the Village! Time Capsule: Craig reports he has been in contact with the Pioneer Press. He asked them for a $500 donation, 6 full page ads and a cover story. Pioneer Press is still undecided if they will be involved. Janet says the Daily Herald will be doing a pull out section for the 50rh License Plates: Ernie reports he has everything ready to go. The State will make up a sample for our approval. Mike Terson will make the flyers. We will order 200. Plates are only valid for 60 days. July to September 2008. Cost will be $25 each. The state will mail the plates to those who have purchased them. BG Days: no report Key Chains: Our cost is $5. If ready soon, we can sell them at BG Days 2007. We will order 1000. Note Cards: we will use the logo on nice stationary. These can later be used at Village activities as thank you cards. Will sell for $3 for 6 cards. 5000 will be ordered. Garden Club: No report Veteran's Display: Lou reports he is having a difficult time getting cooperation to produce a display etc. Mike T suggested the Park District help out and perhaps some type of memorial at Veteran's Park on Weiland Rd. All agreed this is a good idea. Chocolates: Paulette advised the Long Grove Confectionary could not use the logo as it has too many shaded areas. Would a `generic' buffalo be ok? Yes. Ernie gave Paulette a logo w. out some of the shading. Will see if the candy company can use. Sponsorships: Rich reports it is too early to solicit businesses. Committee Shirts: Janet has found Land's End polo shirts for $19.50 to $25.00 depending on size. Set up fee for the embroidery is $95, Village will pay that. Committee members will buy their own shirt. In attendance, all but 3 people agree to purchase the shirts. Ernie will check his sources to get a better price. Next meeting 8/2/07 Meeting adjourned 9pm
