In Attendance: Janet Sirabian Carol Lieber Nancy Winter Bev Bloom Jane Olson Jim Briskin Mary Jo Reid Paulette Greenberg Debbie Ryberczyk Joan Kuffel Beverly Sussman Susan Levy Mike Terson Introduction of new member - Jim Briskin, a 15-year resident of Buffalo Grove. March 71h Banquet: Invitee lists are on the tables - committee requests help in locating addresses for some of the listed people. Judy sent her report to Janet - everything is moving along nicely. Open House 3/8-9/2008: Will be inside council chambers. Mary Jo & Janet have checked out photos & other historical artifacts that will be in glass display cases that weekend (plates, ground-breaking shovel, coaster sets, etc.). Videos of parades have been offered for use that weekend. Carmen told Paulette he has photos of the golf course for display. Jack Schmerer of the Park District is putting together a CD with interviews of residents with photos for this event. Committee would like old videos to play in the background. Susan says the Village has equipment to project onto a screen. April 27th Block Party: Similar to the 3/8 & 9 event, but will include the Fire &Police &PW departments displaying the vehicles on Raupp. Janet envisions free hot dogs & soda and/or ice cream, etc. to attendees. Mike says the Park District has used Dorfler's Meats for hot dogs. He will try to determine how many were served for us to give consideration to our event. Logo: Done Booklet: Nearly complete Calendar: Going out to residents in early December 2007 Sock Hop/Classic Car Show: Paulette reports Murray's Discount Auto Parts wants to be a sponsor! They already have a banner made up for display. Russ from the Car Club was unable to come tonight. Paulette ran into the manager of Binny's at village hall - they are very interested in being involved selling beer/wine during the dance. Jane says we need to talk concerning securing them a 1-day license. Band Concert/Ice Cream Social : Under control. Park District: Music Man will be the July play - has lots of parts. Historical Displays: See above comments - the buffalo head has been found but needs a bit of cleaning around his nose! Time Capsule: Craig was not present. Judy will have a scroll for the residents to sign at the March& April open houses to be put into the capsule. License Plates: Mike has designed a flyer and has given a copy to Ernie. BG Days: No report- too exhausted from the 2007 BG Days that just ended 3 days ago!! Banners: They will have a red background w/black lettering. Purchasing 40 of them to go up on light poles. They will stay up year-round, and the Arts Festival/BG Days banners will alternate poles. Key chains: 3 were sold at BG Days 2007, and 1 set of note cards - yea!! At the Commissioner's reception in January, the key chains will be given to each commissioner. Garden Club: They will possibly plant a tree or garden display near the time capsule to be buried. The club has not finalized their ideas yet. Mike says the Park District may be able to assist(plaque?). Mike Briskin offered to donate trees, Susan says they want to purchase from a wholesaler with guarantees of replacement if necessary. She will bring ideas back to our next meeting Chocolate: No report Veteran display: No report Sponsorships: Mike spoke with Comcast Cable and possibly up to $5,000 will be donated to the village! Zimmerman Hardware already donated $250. Harris Bank has $5000 earmarked for BG, but part will go to BG Days entertainment sponsorship, and the balance to the 50rh committee. Village newsletter will ask residents for a family donation for the 50rh anniversary Meeting adjourned 8:20 P.M. —next meeting 7:00 P.M. at the Village Bar & Grill.
