In attendance: Janet Sirabian Ernie Karge Carol Lieber Bev Bloom Joan Karge Jane Olson/Bob Olson DeAnn Glover Arlene Kozemak Michelle Shapiro Paulette Greenberg Betty Lou Manso Beverly Sussman Barbara Herman Debra Moritz Judith Sira Craig Horwitz Mary Jo Reid Judy Yublosky Bruce Peters Special Presentation: Ron from the Chicago Land Classic Car Club gave a presentation on how his club will help our 50's & 60's car show set for next June. The club will contact people w/the classic cars (pre-1981). The club people will collect a $15 fee from each participating car owner. The club people will park the cars, handle the driveways, entrance/exit points, and handle the ballots and awards. (Paulette requested the voting be done by the public, by popular vote). Our cost will be the flyers, which will be given to Ron in April 2008 so he can pass them out at the spring car shows in the area. We will also pay $600 towards the trophies, approximately $300 for the liability insurance fee, and if we want a DJ(recommended) that cost would be $250-$300. Janet agreed and we told Ron to go ahead, and we will partner with his group to run the car show. Registration will be 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. Awards will be given out at approximately 3.30 P.M. March 7`h Banquet: The invitee list is coming along. Judy has a photographer who will take photos for no fee and put all photos on a web site for purchase. Discussion of who is to be invited. No stamps to be put on response cards. Mini-Open House: We will use the Council Chambers for the various displays. Mary Jo reports both libraries (Indian Trails & Vernon Township) will participate. Carmen at the golf course has offered a display case for use at Village Hall. Judy has a Happy Birthday banner for people to sign. This will be buried in the time capsule. We will have Eli's Cheese Cake slices. April 27th Open House/Block Party: Fire/Police/PW vehicles will be on display. We will have a Moonwalk-type attraction for kids, and free hot dogs and soda. Logo: Done. Janet has plenty of Logo stationary if anyone needs it for letters. History Booklet: Ken from Village Bar & Grill, McKee Realty, Hamilton Partners have all purchased the $250 ads. Size is that of a business card, in the back of the booklet. Ads could also go into the calendar if they are received in time. Joan has interviewed some residents for the history booklet; we are told their stories are very interesting. Calendar: Sample is here tonight for preview. Great selection of photos. It will be printed on glossy paper. Classic Car Show/Sock Hop: Suggestion made for handicap golf cart or two for use that day. (sub-committee will contact Carmen to arrange). Janet suggests a small shuttle bus so that people may park at Fed Ex building and be moved back and forth. Parking will be tight with the Little League World Series also playing that day on the south side of Lake Cook. Band/BG Singers: For next August, they need $600-700 to order the music. Janet gave okay for purchase of the materials. Barbara plans to have Kalidescoops for the ice cream social. The Arts Commission is sponsoring a 50'h anniversary sculpture for the Village, to be put on the Village grounds. Park District: No report Time Capsule: Craig reports his daughter is on the newspaper at Buffalo Grove High School. She wants to write an article about the 50'h anniversary. Suggested she wait until spring to write the article. Pioneer Press will give three full page ads for the 50'h. Craig wants the Village attorney to look over the contract with Pioneer Press. Craig is contacting the middle schools in the area(including St Mary's) asking them to contribute 1-2 items per school for the time capsule. License Plates: Ernie passed out flyers. Applications will be available in the beginning of January. Ernie will try to accommodate number requests on a limited basis. Light Pole Banners: Judy contacted a 2nd company for pricing information. It appears the red/black combination will work. Janet is attending a Municipal League Conference, and many vendors are there - she will look for banner vendors among the exhibitors. Key Chains: Now available at Village Hall - $6 each will make great holiday gifts (especially for those out-of-towners). We have already sold 100 of them. Note cards - just a few have been sold. Garden Club: Mike says the Park District will pay for a plaque where the time capsule is buried and has suggested wording for the plaque. The Garden Club does not wish to have any plants to care for on the site. Janet suggests Garden Club and Park District get to together on this project. Chocolate: No report Sponsorship: No report(Janet says she met with Rich and they brain stormed some ideas). Shirts: Joan says she will have the info at the next meeting. Veteran's Displays: Mary Jo is trying to collect items for the displays. It was suggested she speak with George Krug, who has tons of Marine things in his house. Next meeting: November 8th at 7:00 P.M. at the Village Bar & Grill. The meeting was adjourned 8.35 P.M.
