Special Presentation:
Ron from the Chicago Land Classic Car Club gave a presentation on how his club will help our
50's & 60's car show set for next June. The club will contact people w/the classic cars
(pre-1981). The club people will collect a $15 fee from each participating car owner. The club
people will park the cars, handle the driveways, entrance/exit points, and handle the ballots and
awards. (Paulette requested the voting be done by the public, by popular vote). Our cost will be
the flyers, which will be given to Ron in April 2008 so he can pass them out at the spring car
shows in the area. We will also pay $600 towards the trophies, approximately $300 for the
liability insurance fee, and if we want a DJ(recommended) that cost would be $250-$300. Janet
agreed and we told Ron to go ahead, and we will partner with his group to run the car show.
Registration will be 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. Awards will be given out at approximately 3.30
P.M.
March 7`h Banquet: The invitee list is coming along. Judy has a photographer who will take
photos for no fee and put all photos on a web site for purchase. Discussion of who is to be
invited. No stamps to be put on response cards.
Mini-Open House: We will use the Council Chambers for the various displays. Mary Jo reports
both libraries (Indian Trails & Vernon Township) will participate. Carmen at the golf course has
offered a display case for use at Village Hall. Judy has a Happy Birthday banner for people to
sign. This will be buried in the time capsule. We will have Eli's Cheese Cake slices.
April 27th Open House/Block Party: Fire/Police/PW vehicles will be on display. We will have
a Moonwalk-type attraction for kids, and free hot dogs and soda.
Logo: Done. Janet has plenty of Logo stationary if anyone needs it for letters.
History Booklet: Ken from Village Bar & Grill, McKee Realty, Hamilton Partners have all
purchased the $250 ads. Size is that of a business card, in the back of the booklet. Ads could
also go into the calendar if they are received in time. Joan has interviewed some residents for the
history booklet; we are told their stories are very interesting.
Calendar: Sample is here tonight for preview. Great selection of photos. It will be printed on
glossy paper.
Classic Car Show/Sock Hop: Suggestion made for handicap golf cart or two for use that day.
(sub-committee will contact Carmen to arrange). Janet suggests a small shuttle bus so that people
may park at Fed Ex building and be moved back and forth. Parking will be tight with the Little
League World Series also playing that day on the south side of Lake Cook.
Band/BG Singers: For next August, they need $600-700 to order the music. Janet gave okay for
purchase of the materials. Barbara plans to have Kalidescoops for the ice cream social. The Arts
Commission is sponsoring a 50'h anniversary sculpture for the Village, to be put on the Village
grounds.
Park District: No report
Time Capsule: Craig reports his daughter is on the newspaper at Buffalo Grove High School.
She wants to write an article about the 50'h anniversary. Suggested she wait until spring to write
the article. Pioneer Press will give three full page ads for the 50'h. Craig wants the Village
attorney to look over the contract with Pioneer Press. Craig is contacting the middle schools in
the area(including St Mary's) asking them to contribute 1-2 items per school for the time capsule.
License Plates: Ernie passed out flyers. Applications will be available in the beginning of
January. Ernie will try to accommodate number requests on a limited basis.
Light Pole Banners: Judy contacted a 2nd company for pricing information. It appears the
red/black combination will work. Janet is attending a Municipal League Conference, and many
vendors are there - she will look for banner vendors among the exhibitors.
Key Chains: Now available at Village Hall - $6 each will make great holiday gifts (especially for
those out-of-towners). We have already sold 100 of them. Note cards - just a few have been
sold.
Garden Club: Mike says the Park District will pay for a plaque where the time capsule is buried
and has suggested wording for the plaque. The Garden Club does not wish to have any plants to
care for on the site. Janet suggests Garden Club and Park District get to together on this project.
Chocolate: No report
Sponsorship: No report(Janet says she met with Rich and they brain stormed some ideas).
Shirts: Joan says she will have the info at the next meeting.
Veteran's Displays: Mary Jo is trying to collect items for the displays. It was suggested she
speak with George Krug, who has tons of Marine things in his house.
Next meeting: November 8th at 7:00 P.M. at the Village Bar & Grill.
The meeting was adjourned 8.35 P.M.
