2007-12-13 - 50th Anniversary Committee - Minutes Board or Commission: ❑ 50th Anniversary Committee Document Type: ❑Agenda 0 Minutes Meeting Date: 12/13/2007 Type of Meeting: ❑ Regular Meeting Buffalo Grove 50th Anniversary Meeting 416 12/13/2007 In Attendance: Jan Sirabian Ernie Karge Sue Levy Lou Ellison Joan Karge Jane Olson Paulette Greenberg Carol Lieber Deb Rybarczyk Barb Herman Rhonda Norman Nancy Winter Drew Kapinos MaryJo Reid Judy Yublonsky Meeting called to order at 7.20pm Jan had a box of the calendars to display. They have been delivered to the post office and should be put in all home and business PO Boxes shortly. Extras will be sold at the Village Hall for $2 each. Dinner: Barb has an updated list for the invitees- 207 with addresses (7 are State officials). Missing are 33 addresses, they are still searching for these people. Invitations are to be mailed out week of January 7th. Aim Printers will print the invitations. Barb & Judy will assemble them for mailing. On January 9th a food tasting will be held at the Arboretum. Open House 3/8,9/08: Scroll for the time capsule will be there for signing; a Birthday cake , Eli's cheese cake slices and balloon decorations will give the party atmosphere. Need volunteers from this committee to handle that day's activities. Open House/Block Party April 27/07: Sue Levy working with Public Works for any signs we need made up, Time frame that day 11 am-5pm. Paulette brought up the need to now configure exactly what we need/want for this event. A tent, with tables & chairs (6-8 tables' 3 dozen chairs?) Porta potties needed? Paulette will contact Carlos for maintenance on that day. Janet wants free hot dogs/soft drinks, and a Moon Walk for the kids (Paulette will contact Astro Amusements).Village Hall will be open? Public Works vehicles on display. A Sponsorship board should be on display at this event and possibly the Car show/Sock hop. We also need volunteers to help run this event. History Booklet: nearly done. Still needs some tweaking. Car show/Sock hop: We will order a tent(size still under discussion) with tables & chairs. Need small stage for Dick Biondi. Need some sound equipment/sound board (Paulette has 2 guys from BG Days committee that will handle). Need to discuss w/David at Public Works about a bus from Fed Ex or Town center parking lot to shuttle people. Carlos will handle the maintenance. (Contract will be sent to him 1't of the New Year) Judy S's husband has designed the poster for this double event. (This committee will have a side meeting in January for further discussions) Park District: Music Man will be the play on 2 weekends 7/17 & 7/27/07. Show will be at Stevenson High School. The Art Fair will also be mid July 2007 Band Concert: August 3,d: Jane has the contract will be at Stevenson High School. Historical displays: MaryJo is meeting with Debbie at the museum next week. Indian Trails Library will have display cases for the month of March 2007. Vernon Area Library has a traveling display that will be at various events over the six months. Time Capsule: Janet has a list of items to be included (last vehicle sticker, newsletters etc,) already being put aside for inclusion in the time capsule. License Plates: Ernie reports the 1't set of letters have gone out. 2 dozen responses have come back so far. In the next few issues of the Village Newsletter an application for the license plates will be there, for more people to order. 500 of these plates will be ordered. Light Pole Banners: Judy passed out a mock up of the proposed design. Banners will be put on every 3d light pole, as Public Works sees fit. Key Chain/Note Cards: done Garden Club: Sue reports they are working with the Park District. When the weather is better, a decision will be made where to put the time capsule and decorative plants/flowers. Chocolate: Paulette will contact Long Grove Confectionary now that their Christmas candy is done. Veteran's Display: Lou reports most of the members of his post are 75yrs or older. Not too interested in lending things for display. Riding in the BG Days parade,would be appealing. Jan says this can be done. Paulette will talk to Joe when the BG Days Committee begins planning for 2008. Sponsorship: We only had a few responses for the calendar. Still time for a few more sponsors for the history book. We have no large corporate sponsors. Shirts: Joan has the order forms. Cost is $20 per person- optional if committee members want to order one. Village is paying the set up fees. Joan will take orders at next meeting; Color will be a `cornflower blue'. Polo shirt style. Jan is still looking for a juke box for the dinner. Next meeting January 17rh at Village Grill Meeting adjourned at 8.15pm
