2001-07-03 - Board of Fire and Police Commissioners - Minutes Board or Commission: ❑ Fire& Police commission Document ❑Type: A e g nda 0 Minutes Meeting ate: 07/03/2001 Type of Meeting: ❑ Regular Meeting Fire and Police Commission Regular Meeting Tuesday, July 3, 2001 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm in Police Headquarters. Present at the meeting were Chairman Walser, Commissioners Anderson,Jackson, Karge and Rubin. Also present for the meeting were Police Chief McCann, Deputy Fire Chief Ciecko and Village Liaison Malinowski. A motion to approve the minutes of the June 5, 2001 meeting was made by Commissioner Karge and seconded by Commissioner Jackson. With 5 Ayes, 0 Nays the motion carried. Chairman's Report: Mr.Walser reported that 29 candidates completed the oral interview portion of the testing process for police officer. Scores will be submitted this week and the preliminary eligibility list compiled. Commissioner's Reports: None Old Business: A motion was made to approve the PPR for the fire department lieutenant's exam by Commissioner Karge and seconded by Commissioner Anderson. With 5 Ayes, 0 Nays the motion carried. A motion was made to approve the schedule for the fire department lieutenant's testing cycle by Commissioner Karge and seconded by Commissioner Rubin. New Business: Deputy Chief Ciecko and Mr. Malinowski presented a proposal on behalf of the fire department chief officers regarding changes to the fire lieutenant's testing and scoring process. The first portion of the proposal involved the adjustment and or elimination of veteran's preference points for promotion to lieutenant. This issue was tabled pending further review and the submission of an alternate proposal. The issue will be addressed again in the regular August meeting. The second portion involved an added element to the testing cycle in which lieutenant candidates would be evaluated on how they handle incident command scenarios. This issue was also tabled until the regular August meeting. A motion was made by Commissioner Anderson to go into executive session for personnel purposes and seconded by Commissioner Jackson.
