2002-02-05 - Board of Fire and Police Commissioners - Minutes Board or Commission: ❑ Fire& Police commission Document Type: ❑A e g nda 0 Minutes Meeting ate: 02/05/2002 Type of Meeting: ❑ Regular Meeting Fire and Police Commission Regular Meeting Tuesday, February 5, 2002 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm in Police Headquarters. Present at the meeting were Chairman Walser, Commissioners Anderson, Jackson, Karge and Rubin. Also present for the meeting were Police Chief McCann, Fire Chief Allenspach, Deputy Police Chief Balinski, Deputy Fire Chief Sashko and Village Liaison Malinowski. A motion to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2002 meeting was made by Commissioner Karge and seconded by Commissioner Jackson. With 3 Ayes, 0 Nays and 2 Abstentions the motion carried. Chairman's Report: Mr. Walser reported that HB 1689 was being acted upon in the Illinois House of Representatives. After a brief discussion on the Bill the Board, at the suggestion of Chairman Walser, authorized that a letter be written to members of the House and Senate in opposition to the proposed legislation. Commissioner's Reports: None Old Business: Approval for changes to Page 4, Section XIII of the "Protocol and Procedures" guidelines for promotional examinations was discussed put to a vote. Motion made by Commissioner Rubin, seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Anderson-Aye; Jackson-Aye; Karge-Aye; Rubin Aye; Walser-Aye. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays, the motion carried. Approval for changes to Page 5, Section XV of the "Protocol and Procedures" guidelines for promotional examinations was put to a vote. Motion made by Commissioner Rubin, seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Anderson-Aye; Jackson-Aye; Karge-Aye; Rubin Aye; Walser-Aye. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays, the motion carried. The Board decided that applicants for promotion had to be present for the written examination. This requirement will be added to the rules and regulations. The Board discussed the 2001 BFPC Annual Report. The draft report was approved for submittal. The Board discussed the preliminary logistics of the 2002 Firefighter/Paramedic Candidate Examination. New Business: None The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners adjourned their monthly meeting at 8:46 p.m. The Board will reconvene for the purposes of a Special Meeting on February 9, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at the Village Hall.
